Mei Semones - Animaru
89

Straight up some of the most blissful instrumentals I have heard this year on this beautifully written project by the underrated Mei Semones.

This is some debut, you would swear this is about her 4th or 5th album by how mature everything sounds, her vocals are great, I love the switches in and out of singing in Japanese and English and how every piece of instrumentation sounds so meticulous and jolly. By far my favourite part of the instrumentals is her guitar playing, just wonderfully ... read more

Flume - We Live In A Society
47

These songs just sound like scraps from an enjoyable studio session so I am not going to take it serious. Nothing memorable here though, just a pretty peculiar listen overall.

Yung Lean - Jonatan
49

A well produced album just let down immensely by Yung Lean's vocals and singing, no song really stays in your head, just 13 tracks having a mid off, I like the vulnerability Yung Lean shows on here, some good songwriting in tiny spurts too and I was actually stunned with the production on Horses, but there isn't anything I would come back to on here.

Favourite songs : I'm Your Dirt, I'm Your Love and Horses.

Least favourite : Might Not B.

Car Seat Headrest - The Scholars
82

The Scholars reminds me of everything I love about Car Seat Headrest, it has been so long since I have listened to their music but hearing the incredible instrumentation and Will Toledo's amazing voice again made me realise I should've been more tapped in.

This album just provides with great tunes, Gethsemane is one of my favourite songs this year for sure, the pocket of tension that track has and how it builds and builds throughout the almost 11 minute runtime, the song is an ... read more

Natalia Lafourcade - Cancionera
74

A very pleasantly composed and performed set of songs, not something I would go out of my way to listen to in my spare time as i'm not as tapped into this genre as much as others and i'm not too big on some of the features vocals but the mix of beauty and traditional latin bops, complemented by Natalia's great vocals is what keeps me entertained.

Favourite songs : El Palomo y La Negra and Cancionera.

Least favourite : La Bruja - Versión Cancionera.

Viagra Boys - viagr aboys
73

A surprisingly funny and enjoyable album, I thought I wouldn't enjoy this album much going into it as I am not too familiar with the genres listed but I do see the appeal and qualities of this project for sure, the synth work is insane, probably my favourite part of the album is when those synths come in and this album has a good few bangers for sure. There is some points in the album where I kind of shrug and become disinterested, like some of the more slower, stripped back songs, the ... read more

d4vd - WITHERED
68

d4vd goes all out for the emo indie vibes on here and it works, to an extent. I'm a fan of the instrumentals, neat high reverb guitars, overall just very catchy and melodic pop vibes it's cool, d4vd's vocals are great but I don't like how they are pitched up, just puts me off and makes some songs feel more sloppy, the lyrics are basic and predictable but at the same time d4vd is trying to go all out heartbreak indie vibes on here so you can't expect the lyrics to be ... read more

Samia - Bloodless
75

This is my first listen of Samia in a good while after enjoying The Baby when I listened to it in 2022, but I never really came back to it as much as I should have. I didn't give Honey a listen too so this listen is kind of my reintroduction to her music and yeah I liked it.

Samia is consistent at making an overall pretty well structured indie album and it is seen again here, there isn't anything in her music that would completely blow you away, but her great voice and songwriting is ... read more

2hollis - star
57

I didn't really get much out of this album apart from a few danceable tracks that do their job but no real standout tracks on this album, just 2hollis testing the waters a bit.

Production is rough at times and I can go either way with his vocals but when he really tries and the production smooths out, it can definitely work, like in nerve which is probably my favourite on here as it actually has 2hollis showing some great energy. The other tracks on here that pretty much sound the same ... read more

George Clanton - Slide
93

A magical and whimsical fever dream. Every sound on here blends so well. The aesthetic, high reverb vocals, spacious atmosphere, trippy, nostalgic and heavenly synths, unique soundscapes, everything just WORKS and I love it so much. What an album to just sit on the ground and stargaze to. The first half of the album really takes you on a chilling psychedelic journey and although the second half of the album isn't as trippy as I would like it to be, it still brings some amazing, well ... read more

Quadeca - MONDAY
100

Yep, he still doesn't miss. Really his most beautiful song yet, reaching into Black Country, New Road but also blending his beautiful songwriting skills to overall create a tremendous song. Quadeca is on his way to releasing something the whole world has to prepare for. We are witnessing greatness and I wouldn't even call this glaze (it is glazing but also the truth in my skewed mind). QUAD DID.

Saya Gray - SAYA
71

An overall good mesh of psychedelics and folk pop, some cool experimentation on some tracks, but I am not a fan of some of the more stripped back folk tunes, the plucked guitars on here are cool and all but I am left wanting more. I do prefer when Saya goes more into art pop because that's where the ideas on here are best showcased. EXHAUST THE TOPIC and the opening track are the two best songs on here and they both show the great production and potential of the album if more tracks were ... read more

Fishmans - LONG SEASON
89

A super comforting listen, a few more listens and I am sure this will grow on me more but some parts are a bit too loopy and drag on a bit, if the drum solo part was a bit shorter and was further explored I could see me really loving this but for now it still is really good, that ending is so lush and comforting and I really love the aesthetic to this too. The piano, beautiful soundscapes and hard hitting drums makes this project such a vibey experience. Overall this was a great listen.

Dave Blunts - You Can't Say That
5

I don't even know why I listened to this but it was so bad in a funny way. Literal peak boredom and I decide to whack this album on and was greeted with a fever dream of the most outrageous lyrics ever 😭😭. Tell me why his voice isn't even that bad too it's just everything else that is just so comically bad😭.

Backxwash - Only Dust Remains
83

A moving and beautiful album in a devastating way is how I would describe this album.

Backxwash tackles many harsh subjects with her incredible lyrics, production, rocking synths and powerful climaxes. Some parts even lean into a crazy rap-rock collage with the emotions overloading on here too, Backxwash pours her heart out on tracks like Wake Up and History Of Violence, which are both easily some of the best Hip-Hop songs this year so far and overall this album is gorgeously orchestrated to ... read more

Bon Iver - SABLE, fABLE
84

SABLE, fABLE is just a beautiful and soulful experience overall, the first disc is a lot more stripped back and a tad bit uneventful but after that this album hits its stride with amazing sample chops, great features, great vocals, and just overall great production. I finished listening to this album feeling very happy and hopeful. Great listen!

Favourite songs : Everything Is Peaceful Love and Walk Home.

Least favourite : Au Revoir.

Ken Carson - More Chaos
36

Rage album starter pack :

Unnecessary amount of tracks ✅
Every song sounds the same ✅
Max 2 decent songs ✅
Corniest bars ✅
Something new ❌.

Ken Carson makes nothing new here, although there is some decent flows here and there, some of the tracks near the end of the album are decent I guess and the beats are repetitive but tolerable to a certain extent.

That's really all I gotta say about the positives though as overall there is nothing for Ken to leap onto for the future, the ... read more

Sufjan Stevens - Javelin
92

Sufjan Stevens has been on the listen list for a while after seeing a lot of people compare Quadeca and Mid-Air Thief's work to him and I can definitely see the vision.

Instrumentally, this album is majestic. Arrangement on point, atmospheric flutes, gorgeous guitar and piano ballads and sparks of electronic ambience. Sufjan's lyrics are poetic, they cut deep and are very emotionally vulnerable and his vocals are amazing too, very layered with some catchy harmonies, BUT the mixing ... read more

Alejandrito Argeñal - Estilo y Personalidad
67

This second Alejandrito Argeñal album of 2025 is a complete beat tape with no features to compliment these cool instrumentals, which wasn't the case in his last album "La Sonoridad Insolita".

Sonically this album is less old school Hip-Hop driven although the loopy old school type drums are still prominent in here, there is some tracks that in my opinion lead more into this dreamy, vaporwave type vibe, especially tracks 6 and 7, which sound like something you would hear ... read more

Alejandrito Argeñal - La Sonoridad Insolita
70

Random Spotify Recommendation! Alejandrito Argeñal (from what I know) is a Latin American producer who is big into Instrumental, old school type Hip-Hop beat making and this album displays it well.

Alejandrito takes up the production side of things for this album and there is a few features here and there who do the rapping. It is a very loopy project and sometimes a bit too loopy which makes things not that interesting but when the features come into play and the Alejandrito takes his ... read more
