This is like every JPEGMAFIA project packaged into one with his best rapping performances to date and once again incredible beats. I really like how some songs have long intermissions before he starts rapping which gives me time to listen to the heavenly beats this man cooks up and HAZARD DUTY PAY! is easily his best song.
I was debating on whether to listen to this or LP! but I realised that this album is basically the director's cut of LP! so I thought a couple extra tracks on here ... read more
It's been almost 5 years since I last listened to this album so I basically went into this album knowing nothing but a few songs and yeah I love it.
The one minute interludes or short tracks kind of bring this rating down the most, it makes the album feel more bloated and if this project was cut to the parts most necessary this could easily be his best work to date. The beats are absolutely insane, by far the best project beat wise I have heard so far from Peggy and I love the nice mix ... read more
Holy shit this is insane, we all aren't ready for this new Jane album. SOTY contender already.
Really nice pack of songs, mixed amazingly with great vocals and a spacious atmosphere. Can't wait to hear her album.
So chill, the atmosphere on this shows how good of a producer Jpeg is even before his true break out in popularity and I think I just love projects with high reverb and vibes, can't wait to listen to this on a late night walk. I am yet to listen to some other projects from Jpeg but I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up at the top as my favourite album from him, his unreal range of production needs to be studied.
This album has been on the to do list for a while now ever since I was completely blown away by Crumbling, an album which I have been obsessing over for the past 6 months and I literally just ordered it on vinyl last night.
I came into this album with obvious high expectations and yeah I think this is an amazing, really fun, unique and once again mind-blowing album too.
With this project coming 3 years before Crumbling, I expected there to be some flaws that I could point out on here that I ... read more
Best instrumentation I have heard this year so far, great vocals and very soothing. Some tracks are a bit bland and underexplored but this albums interesting inspiration, beautiful soundscapes and strong connection with nature makes this a very cool listen.
Favourite songs : COLORATURA and Lucifèrine.
Least favourite : Cochlea.
This album has some of Peggy's best production and is a great album to vibe out to, very melodic compared to his other stuff and this album would be an amazing beat tape if we put vocals aside. Vocals throw me off on some songs but overall this was the album that really moved JPEGMAFIA into that conversation of the best in the game.
Favourite songs : Jesus Forgive Me, I Am a Thot and Thot Tactics.
Least favourite : Lifes Hard, Here's a Song About Sorrel.
A somewhat enjoyable final album from The Weekend.
Production is expensive and great as you would expect, most songs instrumentals are actually amazing with hard synths and great vocal work but this album can leave me very uninterested at parts, the unnecessary length of this album mixed with some songs leading to nothing by the 3rd minute mark is what brings it down for me.
This album is a chore to get through but I definitely enjoyed some songs alot and it was worth the listen. ... read more
Wow I loved this. So much noise and very catchy lead melodies that remind me of Porter Robinson at parts. The vocal mixing could be better but that doesn't take too much away from this amazing project. The album starts great and ends great, no duds on the tracklist and this album will definitely end up as one of my favourite shoegaze albums of the year!!
Favourite songs : Out of Time, m0numental and Feel All the Time.
EDIT : Yeah this shit fucks, this will end up as one of my favourite ... read more
It's bloated, it's repetitive, but also one of the most influential albums of the decade so far.....
THESE TWO NEVA MISSSSSS. Yeah after being introduced to Magdalena Bay from Imaginal Disk, I had to do a discography dive and Mercurial World is absolutely stunning too.
This album is a lot more vibey and danceable compared to Imaginal Disk and still has a lot of elements that leave you stunned, like the rich and expensive synth solos and the unreal world building. I do think some tracks sound a bit too mainstream appealing and basic, but the transitions, the vocals, the production.......am I ... read more
Damn I wasn't expecting this album to be so catchy and fun. Some cool shoegaze elements with some great song writing and a very unique blend of experimental indie rock and catchy, straightforward and almost cute synthpop. I wish some songs were further developed to make this an even better experience but overall I loved this album!
Favourite songs : Only Acting and Flyaway.
Least favourite : Sometimes.
One of the brightest albums you will probably ever hear and the discography of Porter Robinson is starting to become stacked with classics. There is definitely more EDM on this album compared to Smile and some of the glistening lead melodies on here leave me in awe. Truly the worlds most hopeful album.
Favourite songs : Musician and Something Comforting.
Least favourite : dullscythe.
The scrapped scraps on this mixtape are still incredible and if you are thinking of buying scrapyard on vinyl, do! It's even better.
One of the most interesting albums of Tyler's discography, a great leap from a hard to top IGOR and although bloated, very hard hitting and memorable.
Crazy how the rating I'm giving this album is considered low for Kendricks standards. It's a great album. Kendrick's most mainstream and many replayable bangers on here. I still think DNA and HUMBLE are amazing despite the amount of times I've heard them. Just some forgettable tracks on here to bring it down a bit and I don't think this album has aged as well as TPAB or GKMC. Kendrick still don't miss though.
Mac Miller is yet again honoured amazingly on this album. Emotional rollercoaster that reminds me the things that made Mac such a brilliant rapper, songwriter and overall artist. RIP Mac Miller.
Favourite songs : Rick's Piano and Funny Papers.
Least favourite : Transformations.
