Tame Impala - Loser
65

Currents was peak

Ember Hart - repectation
NR

Ember Hart, sister of Kevin Hart, has finally dropped some new music, and...

Holy shit. This is really the most real and most music I've ever heard. I tried to rate it 101 but the rating system doesn't let me so this'll have to do for now.

Geese - Trinidad
80

Why would he get in the car if there's a bomb in it? Is he stupid?

The Dare - Tambourine
75

The Dare is a good producer and is at his best when he isn't yapping

Tame Impala - End Of Summer
55

Festival-core, snoozer of a dance track. Come on Kevin, you can do so much better.

Safe Mind - Cutting The Stone
80

The 80s / 90s escapism of Gus Miller (of Boy Harsher) and the SoundCloud ethos of LUCY (Cooper B. Handy). While the rest of the album doesn't always hit like the singles, I really love the sound of these two together. Its a short listen, with The Sky and Cutting The Stone being brief instrumental interludes, which was my biggest disappointment. Otherwise, the sheer amount of orchestra hit samples is unprecedented.

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS
82

Quickly growing on me, Sucka Free and Ring Ring Ring are just toooo good

The Human League - Dare
80

"Every face had a smile like a golden face"

sure dude

Osees - FIGHT SIMULATOR
90

John Dwyer could record a fart in a bucket and I'd be there to smell it

Snรตรตper - Unknown Caller
60

Not quite feeling Snooper's synth punk moment

Caroline Polachek - On the Beach
85

My favorite vocal gymnast

Safe Mind - Hold on to That
90

They are killing it so far, 80s and 90s pastiche without going over the top. Gus has such an understanding of retro character and knows how to use it

Muse - Unravelling
55

If by "were so back" we mean about 500 miles away, then we are so back

Neggy Gemmy - She Comes From Nowhere
60

I normally enjoy Neggy Gemmy's messy DIY approach to dance music, but it just isn't hitting this time. The mixes are all over the place, and honestly the whole thing feels kind of lifeless, not unlike how I've felt about alot of TV Girl's releases.

Favs: Mysterious Girl, Polly Pocket

John Maus - I Hate Antichrist
80

i hate son of a bitch ! !

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Phantom Island
78

You may not want to hear it, but b741 is the best Gizz album. Tight, structured songs, catchy, stuck to a sound and they executed it fantastically.

Phantom Island is apparently 10 more songs written in the same sessions, reworked with an orchestra. You can hear the relation but it feels quite messy in contrast. The orchestra may have been better utilized with a whole new set of songs, but it gives the album a free and uplifting vibe that I do like a lot. This could grow on me more.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra - BOYS WITH THE CHARACTERISTICS OF WOLVES
75

Maybe the best UMO single in a looong time

Safe Mind - Standing on Air
90

Airy, nostalgia drenched euphoric banger. Safe Mind are two for two IMO, very excited for the upcoming album.

Stereolab - Instant Holograms On Metal Film
86

this album is like eating styrofoam but like good

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Grow Wings and Fly
90

What a great vibe. The tracks may be left over from b741 sessions but, each single has its own vibe and the orchestral additions are really giving these songs a whole new character. Very excited for the album

"@TheContract12 why does autotune and simplicity have to equate to a lower score? Maybe in this case, I prefer the simplistic, lighter sound of that song versus the production on this one. And let's not pretend this is some complex peice of work or Muse's best. I was a much bigger Muse fan back in the day compared to The Strokes, so I have alot stronger opinions on what Muse does compared to The Strokes. Let's not do that thing where you look at someone's scores and go "you rated 'A' this so your opinion about 'B' is invalid". Its okay if we have different tastes."
