Ember Hart, sister of Kevin Hart, has finally dropped some new music, and...
Holy shit. This is really the most real and most music I've ever heard. I tried to rate it 101 but the rating system doesn't let me so this'll have to do for now.
Festival-core, snoozer of a dance track. Come on Kevin, you can do so much better.
The 80s / 90s escapism of Gus Miller (of Boy Harsher) and the SoundCloud ethos of LUCY (Cooper B. Handy). While the rest of the album doesn't always hit like the singles, I really love the sound of these two together. Its a short listen, with The Sky and Cutting The Stone being brief instrumental interludes, which was my biggest disappointment. Otherwise, the sheer amount of orchestra hit samples is unprecedented.
Quickly growing on me, Sucka Free and Ring Ring Ring are just toooo good
They are killing it so far, 80s and 90s pastiche without going over the top. Gus has such an understanding of retro character and knows how to use it
I normally enjoy Neggy Gemmy's messy DIY approach to dance music, but it just isn't hitting this time. The mixes are all over the place, and honestly the whole thing feels kind of lifeless, not unlike how I've felt about alot of TV Girl's releases.
Favs: Mysterious Girl, Polly Pocket
You may not want to hear it, but b741 is the best Gizz album. Tight, structured songs, catchy, stuck to a sound and they executed it fantastically.
Phantom Island is apparently 10 more songs written in the same sessions, reworked with an orchestra. You can hear the relation but it feels quite messy in contrast. The orchestra may have been better utilized with a whole new set of songs, but it gives the album a free and uplifting vibe that I do like a lot. This could grow on me more.

Maybe the best UMO single in a looong time
Airy, nostalgia drenched euphoric banger. Safe Mind are two for two IMO, very excited for the upcoming album.
What a great vibe. The tracks may be left over from b741 sessions but, each single has its own vibe and the orchestral additions are really giving these songs a whole new character. Very excited for the album
