Collection of rich dance music that ends with a whimper but, still impressed me throughout. Floating Points can do no wrong.
Highlights: Vocoder, Birth4000, Del Oro, Ocotillo, Afflecks Place, Tilt Shift
Gets old pretty quick, and a few too many forgettable tracks.
Highlights: Girls, I Destroyed Disco, Movement
The lead up to this album has been rocky for me, but this is the first post-Tilt single that strikes a good balance between goofy novelty and just good dance music
Edit: wait a minute is this even on the album
in the flighted b741. straight up "gizzing it". and by "it", haha, well. let's justr say. My hog
Honestly like this quite a bit, I see why people find it underwhelming though. I like The Smile's use of simple delays to make some interesting melodic moments
I love both songs but like, I can't stop hearing how George's vocals are so slightly before the beat and it drives me crazy
Erm, what the Sighommi? A Smashing Pumpkins album that doesn't make me want to projectile vomit??
Hats off to the band for attempting to go back to their roots so to speak, and deliver something with much less schlock than their last several albums. Decent results.
That being said, Billy's voice and songwriting have not changed and I will never want to hear this album again! :)
EDIT: Like everything Peggy does, it just keeps getting better with more listens
Mostly a win for Peggy, despite some moments that don't quite hold up, such as Vulgar Display of Power or Jihad Joe. Not as strong as STH or LP, especially production wise, but I love some of the other rap-rock leaning tracks, especially Sin Miedo which, I feel like is the best showing of how far Peggy could take that sound that the rest of the album doesn't do nearly enough.
As far as vocals go, Peggy ... read more
This track has grown on me sooo much, it's such a psychedelic sound-collage clusterfuck.
"And in my dReEEaAMs"
Some great production, I love the more chiptuney synth stuff, which is what I think I expect from Porter. There's a lot of catchy enough moments, but I don't think the lyrics/vocals are for me. When I start rolling my eyes, it's hard to get myself to stop. I might be a little too old and jaded for this. I have a hard time with the super indie / emo pop adjacent sound.
I had a very brief Worlds phase around the time it came out, or atleast a few songs; Nurture I know I listened ... read more
If not just incredibly bland, it sounds like shit, compressed to death and totally unenjoyable
