A total slapper, despite some overlong songs.
Highlights: Intro, Leisure Suit Preben, Preben Goes to Acapulco, Strandbar, Delorean Dynamite, Alfonso Muskedunder, Inspector Norse
Very nice atmospheric DnB, Ilian Tape always puts out some really good stuff.
Thank you @krolljr for the rec!
clit eastwood is a banger
A cool enough collection of rough ideas, it is literally all over the place and some of it kinda sucks to listen to but, I enjoyed it.
All I can say is, I'm just happy to be getting more SOPHIE!
I have no expectations for this upcoming album, I'm sure there'll be alot of unfinished stuff and demos with a little bit of polish, but I can't ask for anything more than just more SOPHIE stuff. Very excited!
I didn't even listen yet but I don't have to to know it's iconic
edit: yes
I dont know how to feel about this rn
Edit: this is not my shit but it's a little catchy and I'll always give Chaz a chance
I wasn't exactly hyped from the latest singles but, Peggy has a knack for dreamy melodies, and though sometimes quite basic and dated, some of the beats just kind of hit the spot. Sorta rough start but otherwise, easy listen. I Go could've dropped decades ago.
Highlights: (It Goes Like) Nanana, Lobster Telephone, Seoulsi Peggygou (서울시페기구), I Go*
It goes hard, absolutely. I was more taken aback by the slightly unhigned, blunt nature of some of the tracks. One second you're in the club, and then the next, Charli hits you with some existential shit out of nowhere like on "I think about it all the time". Such a big improvement from Crash, and it does so much in its runtime. There's a little unevenness in the tracklist but it's negligible in the big picture of the album.

Edit: can't believe how hard I turned around on this song. banger
ConMan continue to dial back the quirks that made them fun and go for straight up club music. On one hand, they do the 90s/00s club sound well enough. It just isn't all that memorable
90 --> 95
A truly beautiful, spiritual, meditative trip. The hypnotic central melody, the expressive and soaring sax passages, and the flourishing orchestral performances - it all just plays out fantastically. 46 minutes that feels like it happens in a single moment in time.
He is a magician. I love that bass and how everything drops out for the chorus
DIIV delivers another shoegazey LP, that brings back a little more edge than Deciever.
I do wish DIIV would just go a little further with their sound / instrumentals? Some of the non single tracks don't leave much of an impression ever after a few listens. The singles are definitely the most memorable of the bunch.
That being said, they still delivered an album that's largely beautiful and warm, and yet so lyrically bleak. You can really float off with the music, and then once you start ... read more
The quintessential VW album. I remember buying this album at an FYE in 2010 after being intrigued by the cover, not knowing much about them besides A-Punk, and listening to it in my parents car while I waited for my mom to finish shopping. I distinctly remember the chorus of White Sky coming on, hearing Ezra's goofy ass "AaAah OoOoOoH", and feeling that kind of second hand embarassment for subjecting my strictly classic rock listening dad to whatever the fuck this was.

It's missing some of the highest moments their previous album hit, and the absence of Hot Chip's production is a noticeable. But, the band is still doing what they've been doing, and doing it well. A ton of fun, great synths and great drums.
Is it me or is Political Incorrect noticeable brighter and punchier than the rest of the tracks?
Highlights: Pull The Rope, Got to Be Who U Are, Fire, Mama Say
The debut album from Osees drummer, Dan Rincon.
I guess John is not the only one from Osees who has a penchant for unflashy, atmospheric synth music. Mostly a collection of repetitive, evolving little ambient pieces. I can't say it was particularly exciting or anything but, I think Dan pulled off what he was going for, which might just have been to mess around with synthesizers. If anything, this is a great album to play Minecraft to.

I kind of missed the boat with their last release, but damn, I'm liking this a lot. I'm not big on more post-rock leaning stuff, but besides maybe the last track, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Good energy on the vocals, sick sax, and absolutely explosive drumming from top to bottom
