Pistachio Island is a compilation of short bursts of masterful IDM arrangements. A variety of sounds are experimented with, from highly controlled glitchy sputters to 8-bit beats and tunes. It was a little frustrating to get used to, because the songs are mostly very short; it was often the case that once a song reached its best part that it was suddenly over. This album never lets the listener breathe as it soars through blindingly bright, sweltering tones and emotional highs following heavy repetitive buildup. The songwriting, vocal styles, and repetition sound almost alien; this album is otherworldly, and it's unlikely any other album will ever sound quite like it.
