like Luna this album means a whole lot to me so im a little bias

i've always loved his more melodic stuff and his vocals (for the most part)

its one of those where objectively it isnt the best, but theres a rawness to it that gives it some charm

97 --> 99 (4/29/2025) i relistened twice in one sitting cause i truly believed that this deserves 100, but the only thing stopping this from having a perfect score is that i think the second half of the album very very very slightly loses momentum (specifically in teenagers and disenchanted)

havent listened to this in its entirety in a while and i gotta say, on relisten it did improve ever so slightly

i think its because compared to AJRs later stuff, there isnt blaring electronic bullshit and annoying samples on every single track

AJR does the same thing once again but figures out how to produce and mix music to make it sound good

i recently relistened to living room, and after it somehow got better that time around, i thought it would be the same for this record too (only by like 8 points)

while mostly all these tracks are bad or even unlistenable, i've caught the smallest glimpse of positives in here (for example: i think the chorus on Next Up Forever is one of AJRs best moments in their entire discography, and same could be said with 2:12-2:39 in Birthday Party)

loved this band when i was about 12-14, definitely set my mental age back a few as the only people i can see listening to this type of music are disney adults and men who wear diapers
