Jesus Christ Is In Heaven - Snow Drop (Post Melodic Death Metal)

Jesus Christ is rocking in heaven.

I stumbled across this Chinese band on Spotify by pure coincidence. The odd band name, Jesus Christ is in Heaven, struck my curiosity and I became even more interested when I realized what the genre was supposed to be. They call it Post Melodic Death Metal on this EP. Personally, I would say this is a pretty eclectic mix of something like post-hardcore, pop-punk, and alternative metal. Parts of it sound a bit like Linkin Park meets early Breathe Carolina.

Not an actual triumph.

If anyone talks about Deathpile they most likely talk about G.R., his final album under that pseudonym. It's a concept album that is fairly iconic and well-received in the harsh noise and power electronics circle. It doesn't seem like anyone ever talks about his previous discography and I wondered why.

With Triumph of Death Deathpile decided to go the route of drawing in possible listeners with disturbing edge by choosing a picture of a mutilated corpse of a child for ... read more

The family friendly Deathpile album
Deathpile's Ne Plus Ultra seems to be the most talked about album in his discography after the famous GR. I would assume it has something to do with its presentation not being quite as jarring as many of his other releases. Instead of plastering the cover and case with actual photographs of crime victims like he did for Triumph of Death and Back On The Prowl, here the cover art is quite chaotic but not nearly as vulgar.
The titles of the tracks seem to be way ... read more

To have and to hold a skull full of noise.

Deathpile's debut album Agonize Humiliate Destroy is, in my opinion, a very strong introduction to this project.

While I was rather disappointed with some of his other albums, including the beloved Ne Plus Ultra, I was quite satisfied with this one. Agonize Humiliate Destroy presents a more interesting soundscape with more distinct layers of noise. The rumbling and crackling were crisper here than the more muddled tone of some of his other works. The ... read more

Ariana Grande - Positions

I have never been a fan of Grande's music but I do like a few individual tracks from her quite a lot. So I was willing to give this a listen.
It started out pretty well in my opinion too. I enjoyed the first four tracks pretty decently. But after that, it takes a pretty deep dive and becomes too much of a bland assortment of vocal runs and forgettable instrumentals for my taste. It picks up a bit again near the end with Positions and Obvious, which both might be my favorite two tracks on this ... read more
