This is easily one of the best albums I've ever heard, and its release made for one of my happiest days, likely to stay that way for a while. It's a deeply emotional and powerful experience, with a gripping story line that ties everything together in a way that feels almost transformative. The vibes are unreal, weaving intricate riffs and haunting melodies that pull you into their world, and I'm so grateful to Calle, Vilheim, Buster, and everyone involved in crafting this ... read more
Gradus Ad Parnassum is honestly amazing. Their sound has evolved into something much more cinematic and atmospheric, leaning heavily into horror elements that genuinely gave me goosebumps, especially the first two songs, which set an eerie and unsettling tone right from the start. It almost feels like the soundtrack to the end of the world or an alien invasion. The new vocal elements are spread beautifully throughout the songs, the main stand out here is "Når Solen Går ... read more
Oni 2 is a seriously polished follow-up that sticks to the core Darko sound while pushing it into more experimental territory. The band leans harder into weird textures, glitchy elements, and chaotic structures, but it rarely feels messy, instead, it comes off as controlled and intentional. It still delivers the crushing riffs and aggression you’d expect, but there’s a noticeable refinement in how the ideas are put together.
What really stands out is how much more confident and ... read more
Thanks to HomeSession3 for the recommendation!
Alien is a pretty okay album with some awesome ideas and experimentation in the instrumentals, especially the great drumming and complex rhythms at times. The vocals mix highs and lows nicely, with weird EDM endings and seamless transitions adding flair. The mixing is actually good, but it just doesn't sound satisfying for these tracks, far in the distance at times, letting down breakdowns that lack punch, though it might be intentional. It ... read more
silence outlives the earth is a pretty good album that delivers a good mix of heavier moments and melodic elements, with some tracks kicking hard while others feel a bit standard and forgettable. The instrumentals shine with chuggy riffs, strong drumming, and nice guitar work that add emotional depth, and the vocals balance singing and screaming effectively, though the overall experience isn't always memorable. The mixing is immaculately done, making everything distinguishable and ... read more
Coming back to rap after a while, Graduation was a solid welcome. Beats are great throughout, lyrics hit when they count, and tracks like "Good Life," "Flashing Lights," and "Can't Tell Me Nothing" still hold up strong. Main issue is length, some tracks drag and repeat too much. Still a really good album worth listening and revisiting.
