Jaku is a relaxing, Japanese hip-hop album that took me to many places: A vulcanic landscape, The Great Wave off Kanagawa , Sensei's Lost Castle (wait, what?) etc...
The whole album's soundscape is soothing, while still having some sick beats and it's also varied enough to keep your attention. Lyrics are mostly absent, but are decent enough.
Favorite song will always be Song 2 (and that is not just because of LBP), also shoutout to Beyond Raging Waves and Still Island

The beat is extremely mid, the lyrics are stupid and the music video reminds me of that one old The Onion video about Booty Wave from K'ronikka.
Yeah, nah, I don't understand why people like this more than Ghost in the shell.
It's not a bad track: once Peter/Lois start going, it is absolutely fire, but Quagmire's verse is ok (good flow, mediocre lyrics) and Stewie's chorus is just straight up NOT GOOD. What do you mean COME HERE?
I appreciate the Family Guy angle and it's great that we finally got a track, but let's be real: this shouldn't have been a 1M subscriber special, it should have been on ... read more
Aaahhh, MM...FOOD. It's a very good alternative hip-hop album and I highly recommend it to anyone who even remotely enjoys hip-hop. Musically speaking, this is MF DOOM in top shape and lyrically, it is his second strongest album.
For me personally, I enjoy the beats first and then obsess about some insane rhyming or references second. Finally, I look at song themes/messages to perhaps gain some extra appreciation for an already great song.
I actually expected to enjoy MM...FOOD more than ... read more
This album was recommended to me by a friend and I see why he liked it. Very unique, dreamy sound scape which kind of broadens my view on hip hop a bit: I don't really know what to think of the combination between Trap and Trip Hop that's present throughout the album. The lyrics are also solid, loved Denzel's flow througout the entire album, but I might have enjoyed it more as an instrumental album? Idk.
My favorite tracks were definitely Melt Session, Mental and Angelz. Also ... read more

It's hard to call this thing a song. The lyrics are shameless advertising for the worst scam industry out there and the music is just, not there i guess? The video is also sooo ugly in a weird AI slop, Tik Tok-ey way? Plus, it's only 10 seconds or so
The best thing is his voice tbh, because all the auto-tune and his accent gives it a dreamlike smoothness which is kind of funny.
Everyone seems to know this album from LittleBigPlanet, including me, but this short album is nice to listen to from start to finish.
Favorite song is still Dancing Drums, but Hill Train comes very close to first place for me.
Least favorite song might be Cyrus.
Why these choices? Idk, this album's music is just undescribable for me...
Floodland is a good Gothic New Wave album. While First and Last and Always (maybe a review one day?) is a meh album with some ok songs on it for me, Floodland really focuses on atmosphere and makes me want to take a gloomy walk in the moonlight.
Favorite songs are Dominion, Flood I and Neverland with its hyponotic bassline.
Least favorite song is 1959, I appreciate Eldritch trying a calmer song because someone requested it, but he ain't that good at it.
Honorable mention to This Corrosion ... read more
Why does an ERB clone (and i mean this in the friendliest way) have this dope of a beat?
Lyrics are decent, much better than i would have expected for these 2 characters, the Awkwafina and Living Spray roasts are good.
Mr. Wolf's first verse is the best and starts strong, while Dogman needs some time to warm up, so i have to give this one to Mr. Wolf.
I know everyone loves the Dutchie verse - and they are right - but Larry's verse is back to back clever references and it's great.
Also, while i'll admit the beat is kind of basic, it sounds really good. So yeah, 80 for me.
Thanks to my friend @Up4life , i've been a MF DOOM fan for a while now, and after remembering my password again, i felt the need to review this album. Mostly because i used it as background music for Mafia collectible hunting.
This album is a collab between a legendary producer and MC and rightfully deserves its top 10 spot in best albums of all time. The album is a beautiful collage of music and insane rhyming, which is both its biggest strength and weakness, since not all songs hit the ... read more
LONG REVIEW ABOUT OBSCURE DUTCH STUFF.
Before i start this review, there is one thing that places his music in context: His career is LONG. If you look at how much someone like Eminem changed from The Slim Shady LP up to Music to be Murdered by in 21 years, imagine Boudewijn who released his first album in 1966 and his last album in 2022 (that is a period of 56 YEARS!). Why is this important? Because this album from 1973 is in my humble opinion the last one of his Golden Age. There are lots of ... read more
PRETTY LONG REVIEW ABOUT OBSCURE STUFF
If you have read my review on Boudewijn's previous album, you might have seen that i dropped some foreshadowing about him taking LSD. I don't know that for sure, but 2 years after that previous album, he dropped this fever dream of an album inspired by Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band on us. You just have to look at the Fillmore poster-like album art to know that this is something special and drug-inspired. Just like his previous LP, this album has 12 ... read more
This is obviously a joke song. Reviewing it doesn't make sense, but look at my name and try to stop me if you dare.
Most of the effort went into the cover art because the beat was probably made within 30 seconds in Audacity or something. And the lyrics, a very important part of songs, were made in 5 seconds. I'm not giving a 0 because the vocals and beat are not terrible, you could enjoy this for half a minute or something before moving on to the next meme song.
Well, if any poor soul happens to stumble across this album: this album is Dutch, the music is old and it's also one of the best albums from a great artist. Because it is a LP, the album actually has 2 sides with 6 songs each. I would actually like to reveal singles of this album instead of the entire thing, but i'm sure AOTY prefers "bad" reviews instead of NO reviews:
"Naast Jou" (Next to you) is a very underrated song in my opinion, it's not very popular and never became ... read more
This is my first review, so i'll start with an album that is both well-known and something i started listening to recently.
This album revolutionized the rap genre and made West Coast Hip hop mainstream. It was controversial for a reason: back then rappers didn't glorify gang life or criticized "the system" that much (in fact, it was more the opposite sometimes), but this album started a lot of trends that we still see in rap music today.
I will say that the first half of the album ... read more
