Easily one of my favorite albums this year, and there's been a lot of great ones. This style is where I see music going in the next 10 years. Hip-Hop being influenced by Rock and vice versa. Anyways this shit hard
'I Never Loved A Man The Way I Loved You' is a powerful album, and its impact is evident from the very first song. The Jazzy, soulful production across the album is masterful and pleasant to the ears, but it's not the backing tracks that make this album. There is little to say about this album that hasn't been said. Everyone sings the praises of The Velvet Underground and Nico, and for good reason. This album practically invented alternative music as we know it. We certainly would not have many of the great alt-rock and pop bands of the '70s and '80s without it. I vividly remember the release of this album, I was 8 years old and already a huge FoB fan. My mom raised me on their "1st gen" albums pre-hiatus, so we were both stoked to hear a new release from the band. At the time I was definitely a fan of Save Rock and Roll even if I preferred FoB's earlier work. I couldn't escape My Songs Know What You Did in The Dark on the radio for a solid year after its release, and I was regularly asking my mom to play the CD in the car.
