my severely twee 2025 continues with this one. the vocals are kind of annoying and corny but she needs yooouoouuuuu this is for mateeeldaaaaaahhhhhhuuuhh. brb getting a moustache tattooed on the inside of my index finger. maybe smoke a J with Chloe Price while im at it.
fav tracks: Interlude 2, Breezeblocks, Something Good, Matilda, Taro
only thing close to a dud here is water me but even then its grown on me a lot over many listens. its also really funny that she says papi like that and still isn't saying it right all the way into the caprisongs era and probably to this day. whatever. pappy pacify biyatch.
fav tracks: How's That, Papi Pacify, Ultraviolet (maybe my favourite twigs song period)
good music but holy shit he is addicted to making songs that drive 14 year old boys absolutely bonkers.
really beautiful flow to this whole album, nothing feels out of place and everything is where it should be. masterclass in album sequencing if you will. this grew on me over time, at first I didn't care much for all the features but now I can't imagine enjoying this nearly as much if they weren't there.
fav tracks: Look At You, Somewhere in Between, Mind Loaded, Countryside
really solid collection of tracks! its so unbelievably obvious that Hayley Williams would be the breakout from this group, as great as the rest of the members are. i dont entertain hyperspecific genre tags (i dont know whats what #poser) but i want to say this is my first time listening to something so... pre downfall of hot topic but I found it really enjoyable and wish my 12 year old self would've just sucked it up and listened to this instead of Death of a Bachelor or whatever was ... read more
still on an insane modest mouse kick and apparently this is not considered an album..... whatever I think I like it more than lonesome crowded west but still pending! I love this in a very unfortunate and relatable way like yes please whine about being depressed and numb over a silly guitar yesss YES!!!! I wish there was a better flow as I find it kind of jumps between more serious tracks and songs with more lively instrumentals but given it's labelled a compilation on here I'm ... read more
strangely shrunk on me the more I listened. a fleshed out version would be really incredible to see but after a few listens the moments that stood out lost their impact on me
favs: Str8 Outta Mumbai, Zion Wolf Theme, Genevieve, 100,000
listened for the first time in a grey cubicle so it was awesome and exhilarating and ummmmmmmmm
favs: Dramamine, Breakthrough, Lounge, Iozines & Atomizes
loooove... love. incredibly catchy and infectious through the whole thing. songs that make you want to get up and bust a motherfucking #move.
favs: Girl Like Me, Stateside, Tonight, Stars
duds: Noises
production gets a little overcomplicated (added clapping and drums to the formula of guy and guitar). songwriting is mostly fine but it gets terribly saccharine on songs like against the grain. I think its the 'follow your heart' cliche plus stomp clap millennial-isms. still pretty solid but I wouldn't choose this over sometimes.
favs: What Makes a Man?, Constant Knot
duds: Body in a Box, Against the Grain
i think my current circumstances are turning me millenial but ohhhhh my god this thing fucks
love census designated but this is a callback to her previous works that just does it for me so much more. also goes absolutely insane live. jane remover you will always be famous
fav tracks: Dark night castle, angels in camo, JRJRJR, Dancing with your eyes closed, Star people
tickles my fancy
favs: A Certain Someone (contender for best song of all time), Here's Where the Story Ends, Hideous Towns, Joy
fucking awesome please play random noises that make me think things are happening in my close proximity that are not!!!
favs: Sept, International, Chocolate Matter, Velocity
kind of middle of the road for me but this is something i would play in the background. song topics can be a bit questionable (seventeen..............) but at the very least kind of sort of fall on the right side of things which was hard for a lot of people to do at the time
yeah yeah yeahs about 5 years too late. feels crazy derivative of much better work
favs - tape song, last day of magic, black balloon
took a really long time but this grew on me! feels a lot like a sister album to totbl but not as great. more of a personal preference though. i feel like it starts off in kind of a lull and gets better as it goes on but otherwise not mad at it
favourites: song seven, public pervert, slow hands, narc
i feel douchey listening to this but there are hits
favourite tracks: i am trying to break your heart, kamera, jesus etc., heavy metal drummer, pot kettle black
