This is the first JPEGMAFIA album I have listened through all the way and I really feel like I've been missing out. Consistently the beats were incredible and versatile jumping between soul samples, breakcore like beats, and even an emo instrumental on the track "END CREDITS".
Another strong suit of this album, and I assume most of Peggy's other work, are his vocal inflections that keep every verse fun and engaging. He's always willing to switch up his flow and it is always still ... read more
edit: I'm writing this immediately after writing my review and I noticed the crazy review bombing going on on the positive and negative ends and please for the love of God what are you doing with your lives. For all the stans rating the album 100 with 1 hour old accounts, you don't need to justify what music you like it really doesn't matter to any of us. Like what you like and as long as you're having fun with it then that's great but when your grandchildren ask you for stories later in life ... read more
Overall I thought this project was very enjoyable. I have no prior experience with brockhampton or Kevin Abstract so I was going in fairly blind and I was happily surprised. The production on this album is great while managing to span across genres and pull it off almost every time. My main gripe with this album however is that often the vocals get completely drowned out in the mix especially early on in some of the noisier tracks. Vocal effects also have a way of muddying the clarity of the ... read more
This is a fairly unpopular opinion and I know you guys only come to me for the most refined unique takes, but this is really good. I understand it's really easy to give an album this good a 10 but there's a reason why I didn't and I think it is fair. I feel like a large part of the 10/10 rating that this album often gets is the almost spiritual connection to this album where some are sucked into it in a way that I just was not. This is not to take anything away from the album however, it does ... read more
Edit 1/13/24: Returning to this after being almost fully drained I've started to like all of these tracks and I get Doorman more now than on my first few listens. The darker, more chill instrumental and vibe of Doorman works for me much more than it did before and I think this is a really solid EP.
Rating 70 >> 82
Edit 11/11/23: Came back to this and "It Suxx" grew on me a lot. Still not a big fan of "Doorman" though. Rating 64 >> 70
Came out on the strong side ... read more
No track ratings so im putting them here with a kind of song by song mini live reaction review thing
1. Prologue : 70
Pretty chill I enjoyed
2. Call On Me (feat. Vancouver Sleep Clinic) : 62
I really like the swelling synthy drones but I think the drop is a bit strange. I like how it gets sucked in and out and kind of breathes but it doesn't work for me in its entirety
3. Every Time (feat. So Below) : 68
Vocals are really weirdly mixed not loving it. Where as the synth droney stuff worked ... read more
Being included among my favorite albums it was a bit of a shock returning to this album that it ended up with only a 77/100. By no means is this a bad score but for an album that was as formative for my music taste as this one, it was a bit of a shock that I didn't love every track maybe as much as I remembered I did. A few of these tracks like "Escape Rope" and "The Title Track" still come up in my shuffle sometimes and I still feel similarly positive towards those tracks ... read more

Some tracks grew on me and others shrunk, not a massive change but on a relisten it came down a little.
Edit 1/8/24: 79 >> 87
This is the bladee album I come back to the most and every song has grown on me significantly and I can't get enough of it. There are some classics on here. Trendy might be my favorite bladee song, it has everything I want going into a bladee song and it delivers so well. While it's not quite as dreamy as something like 333 ... read more

I'm done beating around the bush. This is my favorite album. I relisten to it all the way through at least once a week. I'm addicted to it. After listening to MTM it's even more apparent how much I like it, even if there are parts of MTM that I prefer, I'm more likely to come back to Face to Face because of just how incredible things like Famous Prophets and Bodys sound.
Edit 12/5/23: 95 >> 97
It's really just setting in how insane the run from tracks 1 to 7 ... read more
Every instrumental is great, energy is non stop, Rosenstock's vocals sound great, and the HOOKS. RAHHHHHH
Almost 80 minutes of some of Taylor's least compelling songs. Disregarding songs like Shake it Off and Bad Blood which I have disliked since this album's initial release, some of the songs I had some kind of nostalgia related to have completely lost any charm and are boring for the most part. Its not all flops though cuz some of the singles that I remembered enjoying from the initial release like Blank Space and Style still are relatively fun and enjoyable especially among the rest of this ... read more
Bad mix and barely anything fun. I expected a "reliving the glory days" and "where did the glory days go" kinda thing and I got both in boring excess. The strongest parts of this album are when Blink lets the lyrics take a back seat and even then, everything sounds so muddy that it's barely listenable.
Starts so strong that I forgot what to expect from mcr but the remainder of the album struggles to hold that pace and power within the first few tracks.
