An album split in two that you overlap to get a full experience and yet they still offer an experience on their own too? Crazy unique concept I love it
First half is more atmospheric sludge while the second half is drone. Layered on top of each other you get a simultaneously horrifying and oddly hypnotically beautiful experience.
Kind of wish you could find the combined versions on streaming but the best bet is YouTube. Although I kind of liked overlapping it on my own with the first half at ... read more
this album is a purpose
blackmidi’s debut is bold to say the least. Everything about it is unconventional and strange, from the vocal deliveries to the unusual time signatures and song structures.
Definitely a lot more experimental compared to their later work, but I think it’s extremely fascinating and makes it a mysterious album which is exactly what I think they were going for
A pretty cool experimental rock experience, much head scratching to be had

starting out pride month with some “transcendental” black metal
93696 is 100% one of the most unique black metal experiences out there. You get elements of angelic chorus interludes, intense orchestration mixed with heavy guitars, and a seemingly never ending relentless vocal performance.
For sure, this is not going to appeal to everyone, but man the highs here are SUPER high. The longer songs are certainly the highlights here. Each one is an experience of its own that takes you ... read more
delivering the shoegaze in 2026, thank youuu

Aside from that, I thought this was pretty consistent and enjoyable all the way ... read more
hellfire is 13:49 in length? genius
1349’s Hellfire is probably their most well regarded project overall and it’s easy to see why. Frost’s drumming is extremely notable: vicious yet clean. The guitar work is already pretty awesome along with the vocals.
Overall, you’re getting a pretty standard black metal package here. Edgy and dark lyrics, breakneck riffs, and lots of screeched vocals.
I think the first 3 songs and the closer are the most memorable here, Sculptor of ... read more
