Released in 1993, Nespithe is Demilich's first and only album. Coming straight from the Finnish underground, Nespithe is technical death metal in its weirdest form. Still, this album managed to inscribe itself as a cult classic in the genre that is hailed to this day. With droning guitar that never seems to end and burpy vocals, Demilich created a sound that no other band has reproduced that, while not for everyone, even amongst enjoyers of the genre, in my opinion, is especially fun and ... read more
Released in 1990, Rust In Peace is what many consider Megadeth's best album and even thrash metal's best album. Created from a firing from Metallica, Megadeth's mission is to dethrone the band, and with Rust In Peace, the band continues to show their skills. On this album, string instruments are at the forefront. With how many catchy riffs Megadeth throws at you on this album, it's easy to see why it became so big in metal as a whole. For my 250th rating on this site, I ... read more
The Ghost of a Future Dead is At The Gates' 8th album and last with late vocalist Tomas Lindberg, who passed away last year. Now, I'm a very new fan of the band so I haven't really spent much time with most of their albums yet, having at most two full front to back listens on them. Nonetheless, this album marks the tragic end of an era for At The Gates. Recorded under complex circumstances, The Ghost of a Future Dead still manages to put on display the band's talent ... read more
I discovered Archspire back when I was looking for bands similar to Spawn of Possession, and while they don't sound all too similar, I still immediately got hooked. I barely got the time to properly enjoy Relentless Mutation when, after a little over a week of listening, the band drops Carrion Ladder. It didn't really stand out to me until Limb of Leviticus dropped and I decided to listen a few more time and just like that, Too Fast to Die was now my 2026 aoty contender and boy, is it ... read more
Obscura, Gorguts' third album, is their highest rated one on here and a pretty loved album all around, but for some reason when I initially discovered this album I hated it, even after more than 10 front-to-back listens. However, now that I decided to go through the band's whole discography again, I'm rediscovering an album that seemed to have finally clicked.
Obscura is Gorguts' first dive into dissonant death metal, and as a result is extremely chaotic and, well, ... read more
The Unspoken King is by far Cryptopsy's lowest rated album and, seeing this in the same discography with None So Vile, I was scared to see just how bad this was, and unfortunately it was indeed pretty bad.
The Unspoken King, being the first and only deathcore album in Cryptopsy's discography, sounds very different than all of their previous releases so far. However, from the first three songs, this switch in sound is not terrible at all. Safe for the clean singing in The Headsmen ... read more
