Look Down on Us clears on its own, let alone anything else on the album. More proof that I am certain I am spoiled for music this year.
Peak (90 -> 95)
Peak II (95 -> 98)
Retroactively adding top songs:
Look Down on Us, Saoirse, Reconcile
came for XNOR and man the rest was surprisingly pretty good. Usually works like this fail to live up to the one track I know off of them, this one succeeded pretty well. Infinityyyy is a nice takeaway for sure.
It's like, funny he did this to get out of a contract, but unfunny because he still took it pretty serious. We can do the "anything is art if it makes a statement" type conversation all day, but at the end of the day I can't really find it that ironically funny and I sure as hell can't enjoy it, so unfortunately this receives quite a low score.
Just beautiful. I remember every day a track would drop before the full release, every time something dropped, pure euphoria bro.
Amazing.
I do not understand how this is considered of a lower quality to their other material. Officially completed my main run through the studio albums of Deftones.
Surprising consistency even amidst perhaps one of the most entropic and wild sonic experiences I've ever had. I almost wonder if the name is partially ironic in that sense.
Rerated (87 -> 95)
My recent journey with Deftones has really improved my understanding of their sound. This album is truly incredible for how long they've been around for, and for its relative ingenuity.
Rerated (95 -> 98)
This is one of those random rerates I did without updating, but this is bumped so it can stand out as one of my top picks for my personal 2025 AOTY
I rarely find albums with covers so fitting to their sound. Always appreciate that.
It's winter now, first snow since I heard this one, it makes all the difference imo (89 -> 92)
Top songs: (Something), Dull Knife Pt I & II
I would by no means call this good for Cole's standards, but I did find some of this material to be ok or enjoyable
