This kind of rawness and explosiveness just scratches my brain. I might be wrong but I don't see a lot of modern deathcore bands making stuff like this.
Im really loving this new Trivium sound. Can't wait for a new album in this style.
I do appreciate this album a bit more after re-listenimg to it, but it still doesn't click with me. A few great tracks but overall not my thing.
Honestly a great follow up to Miss Machine, not as impactful and chaotic but more experimental definitely.
This album sounds really good. Not the most interesting but still hits hard and has great instrumentals.
This came out in 2003?
While not as polished and tight as The Price of Existence, this is such a solid debut. Already has that sound that distinguishes ASP for me.
I was unfamiliar with early Lamb of God's game.
This album is just so raw and filthy in the best possible way. I love how everything sounds and I had so much fun while listening to it, not much else to say.
Everything sounds amazing until the vocalist opens his mouth.
Maybe I'm being too mean but he really sounds like an 11 year old, and it sounds really funny when he swears.
While this does undermine the album a bit for me, overall this is incredible and such a great modern metalcore album.
While i enjoyed it a bit more than All Hail, I still really can't get into their modern music. It's quality, but it just isn't the style that made me fall in love with Norma Jean.
This album made my face reach expressions I didn't think were possible.
I'm definitely interested in listening to more stuff in this style, but this album really did blow my mind. I might sound like a poser, but I had never listened to vocals this insane before. They really are their own instrument. The production is also insanely tight, this album sounds so good and polished.
I really want to check out some live performances from this band, because I really don't think ... read more
The Red Chord is insanely underrated. This is textbook definition deathcore, and I'm surprised it doesn't get more talked about when discussing pioneers in the genre, given how ahead of their time they were.
The production is flawless, the instrumentals are immaculate, and the vocals are perfect. Not a single boring moment in this album. An absolute banger through and through.
More than the album itself, I just think this band is incredibly exciting. The fact this style of metalcore is gaining so much attention again makes me so happy.
This EP is really solid. The instrumentals are amazing, very clearly influenced by bands like Misery Signals and I don't think you can go wrong with that. Hunter Wilson's vocals are insanely good, very aggressive and powerful. But I do think where this album fumbles is on Caleb Molina's singing. Hunter Wilson's ... read more
I think this album lost a lot of the Norma Jean essence to me. They fully went with the slightly generic modern metalcore sound and It's just not my thing. It's not surprising since I'm pretty sure most of the original band members had left at this point.
I usually don't mind with other bands, but the whole christian band thing is insanely on the nose in this. The monologue in the opening track made me cringe hard.
Something that I really enjoy about this specific style of music is how it offers a way to rebel against religion and theistic ideas, and I find it odd when I see christian death metal bands. I'm not saying it's wrong, just a bit weird. Christian metalcore is great though don't get me wrong.

Definitely leans into a more "modern metalcore" sound. I'm not sure if it's my thing but I understand how their sound evolves, it still sounds like Norma Jean at it's core.
This album is great, but I might've wanted it to be more impactful ngl. Mostly because I've seen the reviews and how much love it gets, but it just didn't hit me as much as the other albums did. It still sounds amazing but it's sonically by far the most different.
I just couldn't get into this album. The high scores and genres had me excited but it really didn't speak to me.
Mostly has to do with the vocals, they are definitely not my thing. The instrumentals are what keeps me from fully disliking it, they are very impressive to be fair.
This album feels way heavier than The Anti Mother, much more aggressive and chaotic, resembles their first 2 albums in a way.
These guys just haven't missed so far. While I do think this might be my least favorite in their discography at this point, that literally means nothing, all of them have been pretty much 10/10 approximately.
Starts off a bit slow, but it eventually starts hitting really hard. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it has an almost medieval vibe to it, and I just love that. Very atmospheric and powerful.
