Australians and Christians - the gods of metalcore.

Even though I don’t share their religious views, I still deeply value their music. Underoath and Norma Jean are among my favorite bands. And while I love Underoath more, it’s hard to deny that Norma Jean has a much stronger and more consistent discography.

No the biggest fan of this era of the band. I had fallen off the ride at this point and returning back to this record in 2026. It's a good modern representation of the metalcore sound with a good bit of chaos, fuzzy distortion, and kick ass breaks. Reminds me a bit of Every Time I die style execution.

It gets started with "Hive Minds", a looming staticy fade in, the drums bring intriugue to the soundscape. The guitar distorted but starting to riff, it hits with good groove. The vocals have nice presence as it moves, a good swaying vibe. The groove towards the middle is pleasant, some breathing room as well while the low end churns. Good atmosphere in the second half as well, makes sense in the longer run time. Pleasant airy jam, nice start.
