Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
100

I know I say this a lot, but I REALLY mean it this time.. This album should need absolutely no introduction. Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” is without a doubt the most celebrated album of the century. Critically acclaimed and approved of by nearly every type of hip hop fan, TPaB is one of the most daring and thought provoking albums of all time. Just like his last album (Good Kid M.A.A.D City), it's a conceptual masterclass that breathes life into rap subgenres ... read more

Infinite Misery - Altar Of Extracted Teeth
50

TL;DR
If youre not a die hard Cannibal Corpse fan, youll get nothing out of this unremarkable copy...

Infinite Misery are a band that I hadn't heard of, but I know all too well. A subset of death metal that's entire purpose is giving old heads some sort of “nostalgia.” I wanna make this clear: I have no problem with the era of old school death metal revival. That is not what this band does. What THIS band does is a much more watered down style of this. Despite what the ... read more

Predatory Void - Atoned In Metamorphosis
64

TL;DR
Predatory Void take a more accessible route on "Atoned in Metamorphosis", and it works mostly in their favour..

I think this year has been pretty good so far musically. I cant say ive listened to too much that's come out, but there's a few pretty decent projects that I've given a spin. Now, in the realm of metal, nothing has really stuck out to me yet.. Well, at least, not in a good way…
We had the new Megadeth album. Their self titled and final studio ... read more

Mario Judah - Mad Metal
3

Well, Mario Judah's back…

It's a scant offering at just 4 minutes, but it's part of a larger project by the looks of things. At the very least “Mad Metal” is a sequel to last year's “Happy Metal.” Like much of Judah's art, he's playing on a gimmick. I'm actually surprised at how popular Judah gets whenever he drops something. The guy hasn't been even a tiny bit relevant since that stupid ass Playboi Carti drama. ... read more

ISSBROKIE - CRASHDUMMIEZ!
56

TL;DR
ISSBROKIE and BLCKK have some great chemistry on "CRASHDUMMIEZ", but the production and songwriting tend to hold them back

So, I've been keeping an eye on ISSBROKIE’s music for a few months now. Ever since she provided what is (in my opinion) the best feature on that new Danny Brown album, to be exact. I'd known about her a tiny bit before that, but that's when she really stood out to me for the first time. The aggressive, fast paced, but still catchy ... read more

The Beatles - Help!
62

TL;DR
"Help!" sees the Beatles further experimenting with folk and country, with mixed results...

“Help” is the Beatles 5th studio album and 2nd soundtrack album. Another breezy listen at 14 tracks and 33 minutes, this album also keeps the band's rapid fire album run going. This album was released only 8 months after the band's previous effort, “Beatles For Sale.” Man, record labels back in the day were strict as hell. Frank Ocean would not survive ... read more

82

TL;DR
One of the nastiest albums of the 20th century...

Going on 40 years now, “Reek of Putrefaction” is, at the very least, a timeless album. By that I mean.. People are kind of always gonna be talking about this album, for better or worse. Whether it's youtube “disturbing music icebergs” or “video essays”, or whether it's some poor soul trying to check out “Heartwork”, forgetting the name, and putting on this instead, this albums ... read more

30

TL;DR
This is not a tribute, this is grave robbing

It's no secret that Death is the single most influential band in the death metal subgenre. Chuck Schuldiner's playing and songwriting really helped fully form a lot of the elements we hear even today. The band's material has aged brilliantly and nearly every single album they've released is viewed as a classic by somebody. Obviously with this influence, you're gonna get some posthumous tributes and heavily influenced ... read more

The Beatles - Beatles for Sale
68

TL;DR
A step down, but its still a classy, heavy, and varied album from the band

Coming off of a successful movie and album, the Beatles continued their run in 1964 with “Beatles For Sale.” This album is relatively divisive and often seen as he groups weakest studio project, besides maybe “Yellow Submarine”, but i actually appreciate this album quite a bit more than most people. I'd hardly call the thing perfect, but it's pretty good for the era of the ... read more

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
88

TL;DR
"Dont Be Dumb" is a really smart move for Rocky

Well, this is officially the first 2026 album I've listened to. I guess you could say it's my album of the year. I was thinking about listening to “Swaggot Side B” when it came out, because I liked brokies verse in the new Danny Brown album, but I hadn't heard the first side so I thought it would be pointless. Aside from that.. Nothing has really come out yet that interests me, well, until now.
A$AP ... read more

The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night
71

TL;DR
The Beatles focus up on "A Hard Days Night"

The Beatles returned swiftly after their last album “With the Beatles”, with one of their more celebrated albums “A Hard Days Night.” Because of the strictness of record labels in the 60s, having 2 or 3 albums release within the same year was completely normal. This is why it isn't too shocking that in the band's 7 year recording career, they managed to put out 12 albums.
I do feel like the ... read more

The Beatles - With The Beatles
61

TL;DR
The band still have some work to do in the songwriting area, but its no doubt improvement

“With the Beatles” was the start of worldwide beatlemania. Though “Please Please Me” was a massively successful album in Europe, “With the Beatles” was their worldwide debut. Why the hell am I telling you this? The Beatles are the most highly documented band in history, you already know this. Anyway, if you read my last review, youd know I'm not a huge fan ... read more

Charli xcx - Vroom Vroom
88

TL;DR
Just as enjoyable as it is forward thinking

“Vroom Vroom” saw a huge transition in Charli XCX’s career. Charli, to this point had a much more straightforward and accessible sound. Take her previous effort, “Sucker”, for example. It's a standard and slightly generic pop rock record. Some hits, some fun tracks, nothing special. I don't know what happened between 2014 and 2016 for this to even be considered, but the rest is pretty much history.

Deicide - Deicide
86

TL;DR
A fantastic debut as well as a piece of history, Deicides self titled is an album death metal fans should study

Deicides first album released in 1990, which is definitely ‘late for being early’ when it comes to Florida's rising death metal scene. Though the debut took a minute to come out, I'd still definitely consider the band pioneers of the genre. They've been around since the 80s, going by a few different names, until eventually coming up with Deicide, a ... read more

Various Artists - The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie: Music from the Movie and More...
88

TL;DR
A must listen for parents, kids, adult fans, and soundtrack lovers in general...

2004 saw the release of the first spongebob movie, and marked the beginning of the end for Spongebob's golden years, as from this point, both popularity wise and quality wise, spongebob would start to fall from grace. Now, this aint some sort of slander on spongebob or even new spongebob (I get a kick out of the newer stuff too), but it's impossible to talk about this movie without discussing its ... read more

Kate Bush - Never for Ever
91

TL;DR
We makin it out the tavern with this one!!

For my first review of the new year, I decided that I'd review a recent favourite for me. English singer Kate Bush is a singer I've always been aware of, but hadn't really given her music a chance. Well, after listening to Bjork's discography last year and absolutely loving it, I've been a bit more open to Art Pop and the more experimental areas of pop music.
Kate Bush is also an influence on a lot of my favourite ... read more

88

TL;DR
A staple goregrind album... also an absolute riff fest

Pathologists second and final album “Grinding Opus of Forensic Medical Problems” released in 1993. It always kind of baffled me how early the album is in goregrind, i would have thought at least 95. The Czech outfit took a while to come into their own, but they've been around for the genre's entire history. Like I mentioned in my review for their first album, they made one of the first goregrind demos with ... read more

80

TL;DR
Absolutely Filthy

The 2010s saw a resurgence in the old school death metal sound. In fact, this sound took a majority of the spotlight for that decade. You had bands like Fulci, Tomb Mold, and Gruesome with a more direct and simple throwback vibe. They wore their influences on their sleeves and could fit right in in the 90s. While these bands are certainly fun, they didn't do much in the way of innovation besides a modern kick on the production. Enter some bands like Horrendous, ... read more

Danny Brown - Stardust
81

TL;DR
Danny Brown gets bolder than ever on "Stardust"

“Stardust” is finally here! I've been waiting on this release pretty much since Danny's last. Its also no doubt been one of my most anticipated albums of the year. Danny Brown has proven to be one of the most consistent rappers (and musicians in general) of the past century. When I heard the features and that it would be a hyperpop album, I got even more intrigued.
Starting off his career in the early ... read more

Armand Hammer - Mercy
69

(TL;DR)
Its a pretty fun listen if you can ignore the deja vu

The alchemist fatigue is really setting in for a lot of people, and unfortunately im getting on board with it with each new release he puts out. Don't get me wrong, Al is truly a master of his craft.. But the craft can still get stale if you never do anything different. But no.. The Alchemist has been making his same luxurious, slightly dark, and smooth beats for nearly every abstract hip hop album to gain the public's ... read more
