In 97, right after his death, the album ‘Life after Death’ would be Biggie’s first posthumous album.
This album is good but inconsistent slightly, you can tell Diddy has been trying to get on it but that doesn’t ruin it too much.
Favorites: What’s Beef, Hypnotize, Notorious Thugs
In 2003, 50 Cent would release his debut album, GRODT which would have huge commercial success.
First off, how this isn’t a must hear baffles me, I get it it’s overrated but cmon now.
It’s an inconsistent album but the highs are very high.
Good album.
After his split with NWA a few years before, Dre would end up joining Death Row Records, this album would see lots of Snoop features and it would also have a diss against Eazy-E.
This album is a iconic moment for the West Coast.
The beats are great, the songs are great, what more could you ask for?
Though it’s not better than 2001.
It’s 2015, 3 years after dropping one of the best albums of all time, Kendrick would drop TPAB, an album which would talk about social issues. This album would be regarded as one of the best of all times and the best by many, an album which would set the standard so high, not even Kendrick would be able to reach after this.
This album is really consistent, all great songs, high replay value, great message.
If you’re into Jazz aswell then you could easily get into this album.
2024, after a huge beef with Kendrick and before winning the Grammys and performing at the Super Bowl, Kendrick would release GNX, this album would see huge success.
This album is his best work since TPAB, it’s really consistent, despite GNX, which is quite off.
But I enjoyed this album.
B.o.B would release his debut album in 2010.
This is a decent album, carried hugely by Airplanes Part 1 and 2 though.
In 1999, Em would make his ‘debut’ technically with the SSLP, an album which would go triple platinum.
First thing, like MMLP, this album can be extreme at points.
I actually prefer this album over MMLP though, I find myself replaying this more.
Favorites are Role Model, Guilty Conscience and Rock Bottom.
Coming off the success of SSLP, in 00 Em would release an even bigger album, the Marshall Mathers LP, which would sell 1.7M in the first week.
This album is part of the big three run he had, iconic album.
First thing, this album can be considered extreme at points, he literally talks about killing his wife lol.
Second, the beats are great and most of the songs are consistent, Em’s storytelling is amazing.
Third, my favorites are Marshall Mathers, Stan and I’m Back.
After the failure of Encore, Em would release Curtain Call, then a few years later he’d have a drug overdose and go into rehab, then he’d come out sober, with this, in 2009 he’d release Relapse. This album is interesting to say the least.
First, the Shady persona is back, in a twisted, psycopathic way.
Second, the album can be extreme at points and also hard to listen if it’s the first time you’re listening, not everyone likes the accents.
Third, lots of songs ... read more
In 2010, after Relapse, Em would release Recovery, at the time this would be one of the most overrated albums, though with time it hasn’t aged well either, and now it’s pretty hated, maybe overhated when it comes to Em’s discography.
Personally, I think this album is decent, it’s not that consistent but it’s not that bad either.
Favorite: No Love
After the failures of Relapse and Recovery, in 2013 Em would drop his new album, the Marshall Mathers LP2, the sequel to the first one, an album which Em would reflect on his past.
This album is the most consistent Em has been in years.
First thing, this album would see Em at his lyrical peak, after this album, he’d get way too technical.
Second, Dre isn’t on beats no more except Evil Twin, this decision would cost him not on this album, but on the albums after this one.
Third, 67 ... read more
