I've been a fan of LAUREL since 2015, and I have to admit I prefer the more guitar-based, lo-fi sounds of her earlier recordings. Dogviolet was my #1 album of 2018. I kinda miss the real drums and the more soulful arrangements. But her voice is like magic, and she's such a gifted songwriter that she can pretty much do whatever she wants and it'll sound good to me.

Yes they sound like Fleet Foxes + Silversun Pickups but that's cool. They also sound like a band that is always evolving and challenging themselves and that's kinda rare these days. They produce consistently powerful albums and I hope they keep it up.

Fun pop-rock/metal ep - bonus points for the saxophone solo on I Don't Keep Up.

If Hollywood Rock was a genre these guys would be the Kings of it. Great album cover too.

I was a big fan of Veruca Salt and The Breeders in the 90's and this album took me right back to that place. Toronto bands are killing it this year.

Hey there! I’m making a community list for the end of the world, and I would love for you to contribute.

“The surrounding buildings, in ruins. The last survivors, scrambling to find anything that remains. Fire flickers in the pitch-black, creating just a sliver of radiance. Miraculously, you find an old device that can play music. You can only play one album as the battery is nearly dead. Knowing that you have little time left, what is the one album that you choose to listen to as you watch the world crumble before your eyes?”

The album topic could discuss a disastrous time, its sound could fit the vibe of a post apocalyptic setting, or it could be one of your favorite albums that you would want to experience for the last time.

Please provide the artist, album, and an explanation as to why you chose that specific album.

Thank you for reading <3

Here’s the list:

You're thrown into a locked room with a gun to last for 5 hours. What song do they have to play on repeat to get you to give up and shoot yourself?

You should do that!!!

Interesting stuff that you pick to rate... I'd love to see some pre-2010's scores from you.

I'm not very good at putting into words why I like an album.
I only rate and review albums I like.
The Beatles used to be called Johnny and the Moondogs.
