I will die on the hill for saying that Vince Staples' feature verse on Hive is one of the greatest moments in music history.
It's one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time, without a doubt. End of story. You can argue with me all night, because I know there's so many albums better than this one. But it's just something about this album that envokes that "ruff, rugged and raw" feeling. Two MC's from Queens rapping about the other side of New York City over some grimy beats that perfectly fit the sound of this album.
I could write a whole dissertation in 50 minutes about how perfect this album is.
This album never gets enough love and it pisses me off. Tru Master gotta be top 10 Pete Rock beats of all time if I'm being honest.
I just love it when producers think about either chopping or looping some vinyl records they found.
This album should be studied in music classes for all high schools in America.
