This album has a...vibe to it. I dunno, it's hard to describe. But it's just melancholic enough and just weezer-y enough to be fun. I have an interesting relationship with this album, because it reminds me of a very specific time in my life shortly before covid when I was listening to this a lot.
It also has a really interesting backstory, too. Rivers corresponded constantly with fans on message boards about what tracks should go on the album (as well as letting the fans title it). There's a ... read more
This is so fucking good. One of the most timeless albums I've ever heard. Everybody can get down to this, and if you can't then you hate fun and good things.
Really solid switch-up for the band. Not quite up to par with Ride The Lightning or Master of Puppets, but then again, nothing else really is. Enter Sandman is actually incredible and one of their best tracks imo. My Friend Of Misery is so moody and atmospheric, and I wish Metallica followed up on that sound more often in their discography. Genuinely haunting track with incredible solos.
But honestly, why is The Struggle Within on here? I know Metallica like to close with fast, thrashy tracks, ... read more
This has such an otherworldly and spooky vibe to it...absolutely brilliant.
Damn, this is REALLY good. I honestly can't say enough about Cemeteries of London, 42, Viva La Vida, or Death and All His Friends.
I honestly think that Viva La Vida is one of the best songs of my childhood. I've heard it thousands of times at this point, but I can't imagine ever not being excited hearing it come on. Just typing this about it gives me chills. What a track. Fantastic album.
This was pretty boring. There's glimmers of something good in here, but it's drowned under 20 layers of reverb and shimmer that distill anything promising down to nothing more than a shiny parody of what Coldplay used to be. At least Coloratura is great.
Most of this sounds like it was written in 20 minutes and then buried under overproduction to make it sound complete. It's sometimes hard to believe that Coldplay are indeed made up of multiple people, as Chris Martin is the only one who is ... read more
Their worst album. There's some good songs here buried under a mountain of questionable production choices and overstuffed mixes. I do like Walking and Running and Wooden Soldiers, but much of this is sounds as ugly as the cover art.
This is fantastic. Easily CTE's best record. Every single song on here is both creative and engaging. Telescope, Teeth, and Cigarette Daydreams are big highlights.
This is the definition of mediocre.
There's some fantastic tracks in here, like Broken Boy, Social Cues, Skin And Bones, House of Glass, and Tokyo Smoke, next to some boring cuts, like What I'm Becoming and Night Running, next to a sea of inoffensive but forgettable pop tunes. This was clearly made with commercial appeal in mind - not always a bad thing, but in this instance it succeeds in distilling down the hallmarks of the band to its bare essentials under production polished to an (at ... read more
