On Station to Station Bowie reaches the perfect balance between off the wall proto-punk experiments and his signature touching abstract ballads. It never feels too wild to lose the human aspect of his character, but it never becomes too tame and traditional to bore the listener. Just some tasty dubstep tracks that all blend together for a DJ mix style album. Very easy to follow along with and is super engaging and fun. Never felt bored or like a track could’ve been left off. Great stuff all around, a love letter to the genre.
Forever Howlong is valiant effort to create something fresh and new. It pays off handsomely, with a rich tracklist filled containing different emotions and sounds in every song. Issac may be gone, but Black Country, New Road are not.
this is the earliest phase of the direction thom has been moving in for a long time. his work with the smile is just a toned down version of this experimental music i love from him. great album and people just didn’t understand this at the time.
First project from Dean I just flat out don’t like. I love his production but it’s so bland and repetitive here it gets annoying super fast. I still like his vocals and lyrics but without the good production it falls apart.
