Very fun listen. It can definitely be a bit cliche at times, but then again that's most of pop-punk as a whole so it's tough to really knock it for being what it's supposed to.
Never been the biggest fan of this band, but this pleasantly took me by surprise! Very cozy listen that I will likely come back to.
Said The Sky in his Crywolf era and I am HERE for it. Really hoping to see him expand on this kind of sound in the future, and I also believe he has a fantastic concept album in him somewhere that's just waiting to be written.
I always love checking these out. It takes me back to my days in high school checking out early Monstercat compilations and seeing a bunch of those "staple" artists try out new things and improve their sound overtime. Genres like dubstep and complextro might not have the presence they did back then, but seeing it continue to thrive underground in things like this warms my heart.
A fairly accurate representation of what my thoughts sound like when I forget to take my ADHD meds.
Soulful white boi is very quickly becoming a guilty pleasure of mine.
I feel like every time I check out his newest work, it seems like Subtronics is on the cusp of writing something akin to Getter's 'Visceral', and god I hope the community learned from last time if that ever comes to pass.
Top 20 AOTY - #1 - 'There's A Whole World Out There' by Arm's Length (Emo/Post-Hardcore)
TL:DR - "There's A Whole World Out There" is an unrelentingly emotional and poetic masterpiece. It's mix of traditional emo and post-hardcore sound alongside some incredible lyricism and vocal deliveries have secured its place as the best thing I've heard this year.

Top 20 AOTY - #2 - BODIES by Thornhill (Alt-metal/Nu-metal)
TL:DR - Easily Thornhill's most "in your face" project to date, BODIES is an emotional storm of lust, love, and regret. Its delectably crunchy guitars, crushing drums, and powerful vocal deliveries will leave you feeling hot, heavy, and asking for more.
"Down even on wings of wax I'd fly to you just to burn out"
Thornhill has come in HOT with their newest album, and I mean that in many senses of the ... read more
Top 20 AOTY - #3 - Sunk Cost Fallacy by Fox Stevenson (Indie-pop/EDM)
TL:DR - Sunk Cost Fallacy is a masterclass in indie-pop infused EDM. Fox Stevenson has taken all the best parts from his previous projects and elevated them to a new level, leading to a colorful, catchy, and comforting experience that is easily his best work to date.
"Like all the other times this will pass. So just be nice to yourself like YAAAAAAAS"
Fox Stevenson is easily one of EDM's best kept secrets, ... read more
Top 20 AOTY - #4 - Mend by Eidola (Alt/Prog-rock)
TL:DR - "Mend" is the second installment of a double album from Eidola, and serves as the lighter half to it's darker, heavier counterpart "Eviscerate" that came out last year. Basing itself around rebirth and healing, the band has experimented with a more playful, upbeat, and swagger-filled style here, leading to a very refreshing take on alt-rock.
Bit of an interesting one today seeing as this album is really only ... read more
Top 20 AOTY - #5 - I Love My Computer by Ninajirachi (Electro-pop)
TL:DR - A terminally online love-letter to the MySpace era of EDM, "I Love My Computer" is 'girl EDM' ambassador Ninajirachi at her absolute best. Every track here is guaranteed to throw a smile on your face and your ass in a circle.
An album I'm sure many people were waiting to see on this list, today we have none other than Ninajirachi, who has blown me away yet again with her newest album "I ... read more
Top 20 AOTY - #6 - Keep It Quiet by Greyhaven (Metalcore, Post-hardcore)
TL:DR - A fragmented display of addiction, loss, and self-destruction, Greyhaven shows us the vicious cycle of keeping things to yourself on "Keep It Quiet". Accompanied by incredible guitar work and thrilling drum sections, vocalist Brent Mills manifests a character dancing on the razor's edge of lamentation and insanity, cracking their head open for the world to see.

Top 20 AOTY - #7 - NEVER ENOUGH by Turnstile (Alt Rock/Punk/Pop (But NOT pop-punk))
TL:DR - Easily my album of the summer, NEVER ENOUGH is Turnstile's latest and greatest in their recent hardcore-goes-punk-goes-pop transformation of their sound. It's mashup of 80's pop synth melodies and high-energy punk riffs has a little bit of something for everyone, making for one of this years most infectious and upbeat listens.

Top 20 AOTY - #8 - If Not Winter by Wisp (Shoegaze/Dream Pop)
TL:DR - A beautifully dreamy atmosphere accompanied by a sea of reverb, distortion, and soft vocals, "If Not Winter" is shoegaze for the masses that will leave you mellowed out in the best way possible.
When it comes to checking out albums for the first time, there's always a chance that something will take multiple listens to really "click" with me. Wisp's newest album however couldn't be farther ... read more
Top 20 AOTY - #9 - Love & Ponystep by Vylet Pony (Hyperpop, Dubstep, Indie Rock)
TL:DR - Vylet Pony has graced us again this year with another serving of terminally online, bro-step infused, hyper-pop bangers. Through all its theatrics and MLG cringe-posting though, a core theme of self-actualization and working towards self-betterment manages to shine through on "Love & Ponystep", leading to an experience that no one other than VP could craft.
"When you are all that ... read more
Top 20 AOTY - #10 - Bloodless by Samia (Indie Folk/Rock)
TL:DR - Normally known for a more indie-pop sound, Samia has sprinkled in a good helping of folk and country influence on "Bloodless", leading to her most charming and personal release to date. Her self-inflections about trying to impress everyone are as poignant and cutting as the proverbial gashes she's drained her blood from over the years.
Trying to impress everyone is an nigh-impossible task, yet nearly all of us ... read more
