Listened to this driving home in a thunderstorm yesterday and it gave me chills.
The end of 4 tracks really saved this for me, felt much more genuine than the rest of the album.
Lonely God is textbook modern metalcore, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Considering it's his first album in the last 52 years, it's pretty good.
Incredible color bass project, very reminiscent of Chime's Aetherborne but with a more liminal feel to it that makes it stand out in its own right. The fact they have <1000 monthly listeners on Spotify at the time of this review is criminal.
While I don't think it's quite as good as "The Dark", it's clear that whoever wrote these songs did so for themselves, and I can definitely respect that.
Didn't really resonate with me as much as I thought it would, but it is still a very impressive showing from Quad. The closer is one of the best pieces of audial storytelling I've heard this year.
While there's some standout tracks on here, the album is pretty heavily front-loaded and I don't think it holds up to the original as a whole.
Kind of sad I didn't vibe with this too much cause the album cover is cool as hell.
Hell of a streak this year for Neddie. He definitely seems to be hitting his stride with this new sound and we're all the better for it.
Even when trying out new things it still seems Skybreak is incapable of missing.
TURQUOISEDEATH's ability to deliver these otherworldly atmospheres is something truly special, ESPECIALLY considering how early on they are in their career. The included influence from their alt-alias 18DAYS can really be heard here, and it is all for the better.
At this point it's starting to seem like the sky is the limit for TD, and I'm as excited as ever to see what this prodigy comes up with next.
I thought this had some sauce on it but over the course of the album that sauce just kind of dried out.
Since I ended up liking Ada Rook's album earlier this year, I figured I would give STOMACH BOOK another try. I still don't know what it is but there's just something that doesn't click here for me. I can respect the vision but it's definitely just not for me.
While I think the original is far superior, this is a really great way to do a deluxe/remix album, and I hope others take inspiration of it going forward.
