Regional at Best sounds unfinished, like demos that needed more work, and that fact is simultaneously the best thing and the worst thing about it. I'm going to start with the things that work about this unfinished feeling, then move on to what doesn't, and then finally on to what it does for the album as a whole.
So, the good. In a few places on the project the unpolishedness of everything really works and I think this is most noticeable on Car Radio, Kitchen Sink, Be Concerned, and ... read more
Avicii is, for me, the definition of background music and this album is no exception. TIM ranges from songs i was actively wanting to skip all the way up in quality to songs that i can tune out in a mildly enjoyable way. I dont have much to say because I basically spent 38 minutes counting the seconds until I could listen to something interesting. If you like electronic pop from the 2010s you still might not like it. If you dont then jesus for your sanity steer clear: 5/10

So I was not a massive fan of this album, but it runs deeper than just the fact that it comprised of a lot of cello.
Firstly, the music of this album felt empty, not empty in a lonely sort of way which can be ... read more
I really enjoyed The Great Divide. I think for me it was A little longer than I personally would have liked, by the hour mark the style starts to grow a little old, not to say that any of the songs are bad. In fact, as with stick season, all of the songs here will be great in a playlist, but put all of them together for an hour and a quarter and its a little much. However, The Great Divide is an outstanding song, and Headed North is just so much fun, and outside of those the album doesn't ... read more
