Nothing crazy here to write about, just fine. I like this album, I like this band, that's really all there is to it.
This plays like an out-of-body experience. The choirs, the harps, the orchestras, all sound so incredibly stunning and support Bjork's astonishingly beautiful vocals in such an incredibly necessary way. I've never heard something so ethereal. Music is not supposed to sound this good. Knowing that this was an album centered around sex, I was expecting a more passionate and kind of aggressive sound, however this album sounds almost like the opposite. It's so subdued, delicate, and ... read more
britpop has a very valid claim for one of the best short lived music scenes of all time, it seems like there was nothing that could go wrong in the mid 90's for british bands like Pulp
zach de la rocha tricked so many people into thinking rap metal was cool by actually being cool
ugh, so pretty to listen to. definitely a couple of new playlist mainstays on here.
this is far and away the best compilation album i've ever heard. everything sounds amazing on here. it's actually amazing how many songs on here contend for the best smiths song ever. it's just packed full of great songs.
everything about this album is actually perfect. there really is no way around it. rivers is a musical genius and it shows on every song here. it's full of catchy hooks, beautiful harmonies, great instrumentation, and messaging that strikes me as being very powerful, homely, relatable, with moments that fill me with sadness and angst while also containing moments that are uplifting, silly, and good fun. it's amazing how something can resonate so well to someone listening thirty years ... read more
i was high as shit and this looped like 4 times it was amazing
its fucking awful i couldnt finish after bomb
way too much fucking crooning it was insane
its truly a marvel how great this album comes together. it hits every spot imagineable
this is such a weirdly put together album, which sucks because i think the premise of eminem burying his alternate persona of slim shady could make for something really cool. the problem is that the narrative isn't cohesive at all. there are some fun tracks here that make me think that the theme is coming together, but it is then ruined in a track that immediately follows. the perfect moment of this occurring is how the narrative of the album falls apart after guilty conscience 2, as there ... read more
there is a really intimate feeling when going through this album. it's genuinely so mesmerizing and beautiful, yet it's about such dark topics in the lives of the people behind it. the heroin and alcohol references are very clear, and it makes the album feel very raw and as though it has nothing to hide, as visualized by the cover. the lyrics are so deeply personal that it feels as though i'm sitting in on a therapy session that i really really shouldn't be listening to. ... read more
this shit had a drake feature, a drake SONG, and three goddamn interludes in 32 minutes bro. 😭😭😭😭 it's a shame that it followed charli's album though because you can certainly look at some moments on here and see how they size up to similar moments on charli's release and easily see that they don't really measure up. regardless, the content here is such a mess which ultimately kills what ever flow is trying to build at any given moment. the good moments are too ... read more
