About 20 years after after their excellent breakout record, this album for sure has swagger and confidence however it doesn't quite stand as high as a handful of their earlier records. The downside of this record is that there aren't a whole lot of huge stand out tracks. Just 10 cuts that feel like better versions of the Black Key's early 2010s output.
+: Held, The Hardest Cut, Astral Jacket, Lucifer of the Sofa
-: N/A
Solid cloud rap effort, Jukebox Joints very well may be Rocky's best track
+: Canal St., L$D, Excuse Me, Jukebox Joints, Everyday
-: Lord PRetty Flack Jodye 2, Fine Whine, M'$
Although this review may be influenced by recency bias, this record details a vivid, heartbreaking, and nostalgic story of failing young love.
+: Chaos Space Marine, Concorde, Bread Song, Good will Hunting, Haldern, The Place Where He Inserted the Blade, Snow Globes, Basketball Shoes
-: Mark's Theme
The track run from Gasoline to Sacrifice has 4 practically perfect pop songs, but after that the album never quite reaches the same peaks.
+: Gasoline, How Do I Make You Love Me?, Take My Breath, Sacrifice
-: I Heard You're Married
This is like wallpaper compared to what Cordae's contemporaries (like JID, Denzel) have been teasing towards.
+: Jean-Michael, Westlake High, Sinister, C Carter
-: Today, Chronicles, Super
Although it may be charming, Cordae still fails to fully differentiate himself from his peers.
+: RNP, Have Mercy, Broke As Fuck, Nightmares Are Real
-: Wintertime, Been Around
Despite probably being his best effort to date, IDK still leaves lots to be desired and comes short of his potential on IS HE REAL?
+: 24, Porno, Alone, No Cable, Michael What TF
-: Lilly, European Skies, Digital
Although the entire record may not be fun enough to make up for the Fortnite line in The Cruel Millennial, this still falls in the better portion of King Gizzard's releases.
+: Fishing For Fishies, Boogieman Sam, This Thing, Acarine, Cyboogie
-: Plastic Boogie, Real's Not Real
Sour melodies over relentless grooves more than make up for the 41 minute runtime.
+: Rattlesnake, Melting, Open Water, Sleep Drifter, Billabong Valley, Doom City, Nuclear Fusion
-: Anoxia, Flying Microtonal Banana
This mixtape has a handful of solid tracks with good hooks but most of it feels like unkempt potential.
+: Cocoa Butter Kisses, NaNa, Favorite Song,
-: Paranoia, Pusha Man
The production is ridiculous even if sometimes this record comes off as a little pretentious.
+: The Worst Guys, Shadows, Sweatpants, 3005, Crawl, Urn, Life: The Biggest Troll
-: Worldstar, The Party, Earth: The Oldest Computer
Paranoid is like so catchy like wow
+: Heartless, Love Lockdown, Paranoid, Street Lights, Coldest Winter
-: Pinocchio Story, See You in My Nightmares
Even the interlude sounds great on this album like come on man
+: Oh Shit!!!, Bad Boys 3, All This Money, S on Ya Chest, What's Goodie, Girl With the Gold Wrist, Keep on Slippin, 2016 Interlude
-: Eeny Meeny Miny Moe, All Quiet on the West Side
It's okay industrial hip hop; it'll be really really good or really really not.. uh.. good.
+: Black Skinhead, Bound 2, New Slaves
-: I'm In It, Guilt Trip, I Am a God
Incredibly unique and boundary-pushing noise punk
+: 953, Speedway, bmbmbm, Neart DT MI, Western, Years Ago
-: Ducter
Such an overloaded second half!!!!! but there are amazing songs here
+: Groovy Tony / Eddie Kane, Kno Ya Wrong, Ride Out,
-: WHateva You Want, Overtime, Tookie Knows II, Black THougHts
Please don't murder me... In all seriousness, this record will either have one of the greatest songs ever or a track that falls way short of the rest.
+: Dark Fantasy, Gorgeous, POWER, Devil In A New Dress, Runaway
-: Blame Game, All of the Lights, Hell of a Life, Lost In the World
Undeniably a stylistic change for The Strokes; most of the tracks are solid with a few gems, and a few that are just wallpaper in the context of the Strokes' discography.
+: 80's Comedown Machine, 50/50, One Way Trigger
-: Chances, Tap Out, Welcome To Japan
There will be a catchy riff or vocal line once every like 15 minutes and this LP is under 40.
+: Lo/Hi, Walk Across The Water (?)
-: Shine A Little Light, Tell Me Lies, Every Little Thing, Go
Another step into the downward spiral beyond 2013's Doris.
+: Huey, Grief, Off Top, Wool, Inside, Mantra, Faucet
-: Grown Ups, AM // Radio
