Vince Staples - Cry Baby

Vince Staples gets WOKE on this project, we lost another one😭. Crybaby feels like Vince Staples most unique and daring album to date, feeling like an even farther departure from his usual sound than the entirely electronic Big Fish Theory. I never would have expected this to be next sound to expect for a Vince Staples record in 2026, Vince combines some of his most interesting instrumentals with unabashed political messaging to craft my favorite album of his to date. Alex G - RULES

A little bit more alt rock than I was expecting from Alex G, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This really does feel like maybe it's some sort of transitional album, even if I don't really know what it's transitioning to. Not bad but definitely my least favorite album from him yet.

Alex G - DSU

Far from my favorite Alex G, but as far as I can tell, he hasn't made a bad album yet. Feels like a natural evolution of the sound that came on Trick, even if I do find myself drawn more towards that album. I may not love some of the ambient tracks, and I may not be in love with Harvey as much as everyone else seems to be, but DSU is still an incredibly strong record nonetheless.

The Weeknd - After Hours

Of the releases from The Weeknd that I've heard, I'm much more partial to his early sound seen on House of Balloons, but the later albums I've heard from him are still incredibly solid. You can feel the Uncut Gems influence here, which is cool considering that's not really what I expected from him here. The Weeknd is one of the few gigantic artists that I tend to actually enjoy, probably because he's the only one who really seems to try to reinvent himself or try ... read more

BROCKHAMPTON - The Family

Brockhampton's final album certainly feels conclusive, even if it's largely a Kevin Abstract solo project. This, of course, means that the final brockhampton album is unfortunately missing much of the group chemistry that made their previous albums so strong.
