with charli, you gotta trust in the full picture. they're part of something bigger.
underscores AND PinkPantheress stamp of approval huh
the reason Yves differs from K-pop's overrall vibe is, in my opinion, due to her willingness to be real. she feels every word she sings, prioritizing emotion and depth over commercial success. I can't connect with idols' projects most of the time as they feel more focused on squeezing the money out *KATSEYE* than doing anything meaningful, but 'NAIL' proves there are some exceptions:

hyperpop was dead right?
RIGHT?
i will forever regret not listening to this sooner. she scratches a very specific part of my brain, the one that fantasizes about the future (going out every night, meeting new people in new places, making music and hopefully making it big too) while reminiscing about those years where everything felt solvable. long walks, birthday parties with piñatas, christamas with the whole family, etc. things i'll never live through again.

RAYE is an artist i’ve been following for quite some time now. ever since her triumphant rise to fame with “Escapism.”, I’ve kept a close eye on her. the styles she juggled in her debut were enough to keep me interested, but the standalone single “Genesis.” proved she had something special, something powerful: the ability to move people. let’s ... read more
HEYYYYYY! IT'S U!!!
all of a sudden you're hit with this 'ding' accompained with the sound of somebody grasping for air, and as the pressure builds... it stops. what's left are some mellow synths and April sharing her friends' thoughts about her new hair before building and building... until this time, IT DROPS and this bombastic chorus comes in followed by melodies you just won't get out of your head.
alright, i could go on and on about this album, but for ... read more
who is he fooling here?
this is NOT a dance-pop album. it tries to be, but it misses the whole point of the genre. three quarters of the tracklist is devoid of any meaning, and it becomes even more on the nose that's the case when he tries to prove you wrong. whether it's on the contradictory "Are You Listening Yet?", the boring "Season 2 Weight Loss" or, the worst of them all, the uneventful, clichè, uninteresting "Paint By Numbers". you're ... read more
i don't get it, it just sounds as a more upbeat leftover from You'll Be Alright, Kid , which already had a LOT of filler. his voice still sounds like he's doing the bare minimum, and the track feels designed for radioplay.
la letra está bien, pero cuando canta Sting tengo ganas de ser crucificado y no volver hasta que entra Paco. no es porque cante mal, sino que suena raro.
you can hate her all you want but don't tell me this ain't good. pretty ballsy move for a pop star who was on the cusp of entering the asylum at the time
"Stay" is alright but the title track is unforgettable. the performance, altough controversial, helped it become the staple in pop culture it is considered now. she fell off the stage, took her shoes off and stared rolling on the floor with her underwear. all while wearing a wedding dress. Madonna was no perfect angel, but she was relatively tame until then. this is when the provocateur in her started showing (even more than her underwear)
this sounds so fresh despite being produced over a century ago
is this better than Thriller?
Madonna was in the world's center stage. just like Michael Jackson, the press couldn't get enough. her recent divorce from Sean Penn, her failed acting career, her neverending attempts to piss the church off, they were having a feast. she was the hungriest of all though, to regain control of the narrative. she'd been the rebellious, witty, charismatic girl since the beginning of her career. perhaps it was time to become a woman.
and boy did she ... read more
one thing i've always found about her voice is the way she seamlessly transitions from her lower register to a more high-pitched voice. this track is the best example of that. you pair her singing with the synths and you've got another sweet, candied, perfectly flavoured meal.
