holy fuck i was not expecting this
edit: yeah after the album i can see why yall were so bored with this. once the shock factor ends, you realize this is nothing more than a half-heared attempt to do a synth pop song
it could be a bit longer, feels part of something bigger. the strings are INSANE though and the ending is amazing.
after landing a moderate hit with "make you mine", madison comes back with her most promising album to date (that isn't saying much though) almost two years after its first single.
overrall, it was a nice listen. "angel wings" and "bad enough" especially shocked me with the dreamy outro and the vocals, respectively. however, "for the night" muddies what otherwise would've been a pretty much cohesive listen, sounding less like a track designed ... read more
guys... you do realize she had to do this in three months right? you do realize the label rushed her?
anyways, i guess after hearing guts and knowing the level of music shes able to make, this pales in comparison. the songs are all pretty similar, they delve in the same shit you go through as a teen in your first break-up (with some great exceptions). most of them are too exagerated, but 'deja vu' and 'good 4 u' are really entertaining and do a great job at setting her ... read more
i love that shes getting her flowers but this is NOT a great song. its algorithym pop at its best, but still, veryy comercial and basic. it is extremely catchy though
i could listen to this FOREVERRR, like its soo dreamy and vibey. hope the rest of the album is an expansion of this sound without feeling reeptitive
the track is fine but hes doing the same song time and time again. i hope he chose this because its the most commercial one, not the best
where do i even start? with the weird, night, glowy production on Hard Feelings? the addictive way she says 'broadcast the boom boom boom and make you wanna dance to it' on The Louvre and makes you wanna dance to it? the harrowing lyrics in Writer In The Dark?
in my opinion, the best thing about it are the details. the way the last refrain before the third chorus of supercut is, in fact, a supercut of the whole song. the way Sober II answers its predescesor's question (can you ... read more
some lines are tolerable and the chorus is soo adictive, but the rest of it just sucks. if they give them a grammy i swear ill kill everyone with a fucking zukini
i get youre supposed to pay attention to the lyrics but the beat couldve been better
almost as good as melodrama. she showed more of herself without losing the relatibilty of sour. its funny, smart, and most importantly, fun. the only thing stopping it from being perfect are the occasional cringe lines like the 'fame fucker' one. honestly i think her fear of not getting better might come true cause how the fuck do you top this?
you know it's bad when 'the only love you've ever known is Jesus' is a line. seriously though, if it weren't for the lyrics, it wouldn't be bad.
bop after bop, catchy as hell. only problem is that it barely gives you time to breathe
she just gets better with every album. the whole thing literally feels as if youre on your way to a fancy event and looking out the window admiring the city lights. the vibes are inmaculate. if it were longer it would be perfect.
instead of staying in her comfort zone, laufey finally starts to explore all the possibilities of pop barely missing a mark
