Great return to the roots of rock, pop, and soul, this has a great retro sound, giving homage to the likes of artists like Sam Cooke
feels like his sound matured a lot on this album, but at the same time a few songs felt like they didn't add much to the album
I think that a lot of the criticisms of this album are valid, but still think that it is vastly overhated. As messy and aggressive as the album is, it comes across as a natural expression of Cudi and himself during this point of time, something that doesn't get as much credit as it deserves
Some really good production but a lot of the tracks seemed pretty empty or shallow to me - didn't care for anything before My Eyes tbh and some of it is cringey (Topia Twins), but overall there were some great features and maybe a couple songs that will make an impact. Crazy to see the Kanye influence on this, too.
a lot of bland pop rap. some of it is interesting but found myself waiting for it to be over more than anything
Didn't like this - it was hard to listen to and nothing stuck out. There was some interesting syncopation, but ultimately a lot of it clashed and just got repetitive
Really solid rock album and early punk - influential, cohesive as a whole, and has quite a few stand out tracks
Lyrically and sonically great to listen through as an album - just wasn't really wowed or moved by any specific tracks, contradictory to some of their other albums where they have a couple of standout tracks
nothing against coi leray, but just listen to the singles - little substance in the rest of the album
apart from the message she is sending, I found this pretty mediocre. Consistent sure, but missing anything extraordinary
do a good job having their own style but ultimately the musicianship and musicality of the album falls short
who cares if it is angsty; it gets peoples attention and that's what matters. It put him on the map and even though his emo angst is a little cringey, he still articulated it well through music
sick to see rock getting brought back into music into creative ways - while I don't really see any of these songs being 10/10's, hopefully this album will have plenty of influence since it is pretty experimental and creative in the realm of hip-hop
