I wasn’t a huge fan of The Tortured Poets Department either, but at least that album carried a clear artistic vision, and I can see the qualities in it. Here, that sense of intention is harder to find. The Dare’s debut project shows flashes of charm but also its limitations. His delivery stays pretty consistent throughout, which wouldn’t bother me if the vocals were more impressive. That’s why tracks like Good Time and I Destroyed Disco stand out - both switch things up and show he is willing to experiment.
The production across the album is a highlight; it makes a lot of sense that Charli wanted him on Guess.

Most of the album is an easy listen and that’s a very important aspect of it to me. I love her attitude; she’s never afraid to say exactly what she wants. The lyrics are full of irony and wit, and her delivery truly brings them to life. What I really like is how the album balances playful, catchy moments with raw, vulnerable ones, like she’s having fun but isn’t afraid to show the messy, emotional side beneath all the fun.
