untrue is one of my favorite albums ever. when i discovered it last year i admittedly wasn’t sold at first. my knowledge of the electronic music landscape was limited to just Aphex Twin and some EDM at that point, and in comparison Untrue felt almost dull in comparison. don’t get me wrong, i certainly loved me some good bleak music at that point, but Untrue just felt so… grey? anyhow fast forward a month or two after my first listen and i decided to put it on around bedtime. ... read more
hell yeah aaron turner in neurosis? i wish this sounded a bit more isis coded (please guys please reunite) but im glad aaron has found a new band to fit into especially considering how big of a neurosis fan he is. honestly this album was pretty good and it certainly had some super awesome moments but it wasn’t as good as some people are saying. still a super solid album and this is the closest to another isis album we’ll get.
lowkenuinely the best metalcore album ever. Jane Doe is an assault of emotion and power. there are so many classics on here and not a single song i dislike. therefore i consider this album 10/10 and a monumental release in the metalcore genre. i’d compare the final barrage of the closing title track to being reborn.
theatre kid classic. while im not a theatre kid i do appreciate a bit of a dramatic flair in music and this album contains that in abundance. sure theres the occasional cringy lyric, but the overall lyrical content on here is super intriguing and impressive, especially when you consider it was written by a group of teens. as a teen myself, this album really speaks to me. there’s just this nervous energy in the music somewhere that carries over and makes the songwriting sound much more ... read more
there’s a lot to say about this one. maybe i’ll do a review someday
i’ve just been going around giving scores to my favorite albums that i haven’t heard in a minute and i want to pop in and say this is a super special album for me and one of my favorites ever.
perfect album. ERRA has had an interesting career trajectory for me. it seems that ever since their 2016 album Drift came out, they’ve alternated between amazing albums and duds. Neon and Cure were both duds for me, but self titled and now this album are incredible. this album in particular, "silence outlives the earth", is ERRA’s best album to date. i never thought they could top self titled, and after Cure came out i believed this band was already on the decline. then ... read more
i fell asleep first time i listened. second time was a little better
Nothing’s 5th studio album isn’t revolutionary or genre defying, but it is a super strong installment into their discography. I discovered Nothing in 2023 thanks to their Full of Hell collab, and the stakes given by that album alone made me lower my hopes for this one. but honestly, i’m super into "a short history of decay". i love the noise rock shoegazey parts, i love the softer ballad parts, and overall, this is a super strong album in my opinion. a lot of people ... read more
