I tend to like JPEG's shorter albums better, because the sound can be overbearing and can burn you out when you've been listening for more than about 40 minutes. I still like it, but this feels like such a marathon in comparison to his 2 latest albums.
I'm convinced this album is from a time capsule bcs there's no way it sounds this much like the 60s
Ofc they're not gonna make music about how no one loves him if he isn't there writing the music anymore.
The most balanced John album so far, between reflections on his past and accessible sounds.
Just like every John Frusciante album, there is nothing but unrestricted self-expression on this thing. Despite the fact that there are individual songs on this record that sound more complete and thought-out than anything he had done so far in his solo career, this record feels bloated in both its sound and length, which holds it back from being one of my favorites.
tldr its a little long but i rlly like it

Definitely an album where you need the context and the headspace in order to enjoy it.
I would probably like this a lot more if I was a longtime Mac Miller fan. To me, it felt like some songs could have been cut, but to be fair, this is exactly what I would want out of a posthumous release of one of my favorite artists.
When does the next song start this is starting to get long...
Wow this guy's drummer sounds like he has an exceptional understanding of what kind of drumming fits each song, is creative enough to create simple, yet iconic drumbeats, despite his lack of flashy technical proficiency.
A fun Talking Heads album as always, but ideas tend to linger for too long, and it isn't nearly as groundbreaking as the classics.
