Entirely my mistake for not listening to a full Modest Mouse album sooner. wow
If JPEGMAFIA became 25% worse at producing and 35% better at rapping this album would be a 90. Too much effort trying to create harsh, experimental instrumentation (which he's famously incredible at) and not enough effort whatsoever trying to experiment with anything past the same like two flows and four topics. I've never really been able to handle Bladee's cadence and tone, finding his voice just not really compatible for the style of music he tends to do and I think his flow can end up sounding monotonous and same-y, but a lot of this album is fantastic anyway especially in the back half.
