This is one of my favorite album of all time probably, it’s up there for me. This was my introduction to Phoebe and I’m glad it was. I think I like her voice more than any other singer, she’s very talented. Idk how to describe it, maybe it’s the mic she uses but her voice is so beautiful it’s like asmr lol. This is the most 90s sounding album there is and I mean that in a very good way lol. I love their sound in this, it sounds like they've pushed down that weirdness that makes them so unique a little on this album but its still there. And I dont mean weird in a bad way either, I love that about them, its what keeps me coming back. I also really like the album cover for this very 90s all around.
First half: 52/100
This was more their original style and doing what they always do, the more mainstream side. And im not saying non mainstream stuff isnt good its just, Ik they have had sections where it would be only instrumental but this was way too much and nothing interesting when it did happen. I did like some of the violins and some of it did sound bad ass but overall it sounded cookie cutter and I belive the bad album cover cursed this lol.

I fuking love Gouge away, for sure my fav on this album. I knew i listened to it before I just never reviewed it lol. Probably good I didnt because I didnt get them like I do now. I only liked 4 songs on my first listen, this second one now its 10. I feel like at least one of the 5 could grow on me but for now its just 10. I wanted to listen to weird rock on the way home from work and I saw pixies and just put on the next album.
Im mad at myself for not listening to this sooner, I've heard blister in the sun more times than I can count and have seen the album cover so much lol. My manager reccomended it to me and I just never really got to it because he said they where more folky and im into mainly rock. My girlfriend played the album in full for me and in very funny fashion, she showed me how freaky give me the car is and another song on this. Idk I dont agree with the reviews on this one. I mean they do have some of that same raw sound I heard on the album after this one but I only liked half of it and the songs I didnt like where just boring. Not a lot going on.
