this is my first mitski listen and i knew absolutely nothing about her music and i was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed it. definitely will be diving into more of her stuff
bruno’s vocals are always top tier, but the album was just repetitive and a bit bland
my first ever listen of this was on vinyl. i cried.
Depressing and introspective with extremely well written themes of death, fatherhood, and loss, but sadly doesn't capture me musically as much as it did lyrically. RIP Jordan Groggs.
Album every day for a year - 11
I went into this album with high expectations, since my only prior experience with vaporwave was JPEGMAFIA/Devon Hendryx’s Dreamcast Summer Songs, which I loved. Unfortunately, this album didn’t meet those expectations, especially in the first half. While the sampling was impressive, the music felt too laid-back and repetitive, leaving me both intrigued and bored at the same time. The second half was much more engaging and easier to enjoy. Overall, I ... read more
i feel like i’m taking off into space 3000 years in the future
I know this doesn’t go for many, but the musical element clicked for me first listen. I’m pulled to love and relate to his strained vocals, the noise and the calm, the strange mixing. What a beautiful way to describe humanity’s wretchedness and beauty.
edit: 95-100 listened to album through and through 5 times today
really wasn’t for me. dragged out and boring, but production was surprisingly pleasant and had a banger here and there
A solid jazz rap album. Nothing special, nevertheless it is an enjoyable album. C12H16N2 is phenominal though
What a powerful album. Hayley Williams never fails to produce some of the most incredible vocals I have ever heard
This album is super hit or miss for me. Some songs are really really good with powerful vocals but some lack substance. Take A Bite is an incredible song I will say
JID still is one of my favorite artists of all time, but I can’t help but be underwhelmed on my first listen. I’ll definitely see if this grows on me, but it isn’t better than his past 2 albums. I honestly ended up getting bored throughout some of the songs. Again this could definitely change as I listen again.
Back in June I really started to get into alternative metal. Mind you, this was my first time really diving into another genre other than rap. We're Not Here to Be Loved is one of the first albums I listened to through and through, and holy FUCK this is incredible. Since then, I've probably listened to this album through and through 50 times. Amazing.
I was writing an album review while listening to this album for the first time, and while listening to New Faces in the Dark it hit me - this is fucking incredible. I've only really been into rap/hip hop for the past 5 years and haven't given other genres a try, but this summer I decided to change that. I started to get into 90's grunge, then alternative metal, then I ended up here a few months later. This is instrumentally the most impressive album I've heard yet. There ... read more
