It's not the nearly flawlessness of the first film's folk soundtrack, but this hip hop inspired effort is wonderful and even inspiring. Lorde's curating is masterfully done and some songs, which seem like they wouldn't work at all, surprisingly do. The collaborations on this soundtrack are unique and, for the most part, well done.
Some of the best tracks include: lead single Yellow Flicker Beat by Lorde, whose chilly electropop surroundings still astound along with its lyrics; All My Love, ... read more
Ke$ha has always been scrutinized. Being called a slutty, booze-inducing member of society. But, she's actually a very smart artist. Her lyrics are so funny, but so good. Irresistible and catchy, Warrior is better than Animal and it's re-release, Cannibal. The rock influence in a big part of the album is to die for. Mixing 90's grunge with 80's synthpop, Sky Ferreira's debut is a musical triumph for being vulnerable, yet moody and artistic, yet catchy.
Boys: Sky practically makes up a new genre: grunge wave. It perfectly opens up to the concept and sound of the album with it's noisy guitars and restrained synths.
Ain't Your Right: A chaotic track with disjointed beats and synths. The guitars add a bit of a push to the song, but after a while, it starts to sound like too much. ... read more
No, I do not hate this. In fact, I very much love it. And no, I do not care.
Let's take a deeper look into this neon-splattered, catchy-as-hell pop punk stomper:
She Looks So Perfect: In the vein of several pop punk hits, this song is perfectly catchy, and uber-simple. The cheekiness of it is hard to resist.
Don't Stop: It's an irresistible pop rock track that packs a sexy punch.
Good Girls: One of the most lyrically interesting songs on the album, and very much made out ... read more
