Pleasant but it doesn’t offer much in terms of engagement. It pulls too much from its inspirations and plays it too safe.
Eh, close enough. Welcome back Isaac Wood. Thanks for sacrificing black midi for this 🙏
The synths sound like crap in the first half before picking up into a decently pleasant arrangement. The whole song is too drawn out without much reason. York’s vocals sound fantastic as always though the lyrics are a little to repetitive. Just sounds like a knockoff Kid A song.
The more experimental bits kill the songs. Mainly I’m talking about the spoken word bits that interject in the middle chunk of the album. Russian Roulette is also a song that feels crushed by its ambition, ultimately falling short of the mark. Theres also a decent amount of stylistic crashing that really doesn’t mesh well with this album’s gimmick, namely the more acoustic moments. Cheerleader and other songs that follow in a similar vein are the highlights for me. Writing was ... read more
Is this the death of Eminem the rapper and the birth of Eminem the artist?
All jokes aside this album is just painful to listen to. It relies way too hard on its concept of Gen Z is trying to cancel Eminem. That on its own isn’t the worst idea, but it’s executed less than ideally. The entire album is just Em trying to piss people off with his same stupid one liners that he’s been doing for forever. Honestly everything about this album is retreading on previous ground. ... read more
What? Quavo holds his own when his singing is layered with Lana’s. Just a very bizarre pairing.
Has its moments and I especially love Neon Guts. If it was trimmed down and more effort had been placed on the throwaways it would be a classic for me, that’s how much promise I think this promise of Uzi had.
The verses pop better, but the chorus is still bad. Better than the original, but could have been much better.
WE MAKING IT OUT THE ATHEIST DUBSTEP ROOM WITH THIS ONE 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Its highlights are great and it stands out from its influences. Some of the tracks feel underwritten though.
I never listened to 3.15.20, but I doubt this is much of an improvement. The features add nothing. Production is hit or miss. It’s like a worse version of Dawn FM.
I wish the first and last songs had a larger role in the album, but the middle stretch is incredible
Already a solid indie album, but then you add in Be Safe 🤤🤤🤤
Didn’t think it was bad or anything, just nothing stood out very much.
My only real gripe with this project is it’s lack of unique ideas compared to its predecessors. I mean this by the fact that every track largely follows the same instrumental structure compared to The Seer and To Be Kind which would see very drastic changes as the albums progress. This all contributes to The Glowing Man being in my opinion, the hardest yet most rewarding Swans album. Everything tackled on this album works near flawlessly. It’s so easy to get lost into one song and ... read more
