This album feels like a time capsule, a love letter to the past, and the sounds of the future all into one package.
Just like Bastard by Tyler, The Creator, it's aged in a lot of ways and rough around the edges. YET, I still feel like there is so much quality off the bat in Earl's rapping ability and the beat selection was honestly, while rough, still very fun and high quality.
One of the most atmospheric and eloquent albums I've ever heard. Many people tend to write this album off for not reinventing the wheel, and while they are correct, this album indeed does not reinvent the wheel. What I love about it is how it doesn't need to. Such a colorful and vibrant album in terms of it's soundscape. Many different sounds displayed, yet everyone of them works.
And although Midnight Marauders and The Low End Theory are amazing in their own right, I think A Tribe Called Quest struck gold on the first album.
