While some songs end shorter than I would like, this was such a joy to sit through. If I can tell you put a lot of effort into a piece of art, nine point nine times out of ten I will love that piece of art, and that is actually what I can sense with this release.
An absolutely breathtaking sonic journey full of surprises while still managing to feel cohesive throughout its runtime.
I am a firm believer this album has both one of the best openers AND closers of all time. Everything in between is also great!
This is the first Strokes album I actually fell in love with. No, I'm not quite sure what is wrong with me.
Liked the first couple songs, but it didn't take long for ear fatigue to set in on their sound for me.
Oh my god. This thing is immaculate. Surprised the fuck out of me.
Usually I enjoy stuff in this vain but there are always things that I find off putting that keep myself from REALLY enjoying it. This one had me gripped and loving it from top to bottom. AND this thing has great versatility in sound, with crazy energetic highs and deep emotional lows.
It's all so, so emo, and so, so good.
I needed to stop lying to myself. This shit is 100. TPAB is 100. This man is without a doubt in my mind the greatest to ever do it.
Edit (88-->93-->95)
There is just something about this that keeps me coming back. It is so raw and all over the place but it wears its flaws on its sleeve.
I'm a fan of their past EPs, but man. I absolutely love the sound they found on this record. I wanna say it's like Peach Pit meets Radiohead?? Which is an absolute dream to me. The Fall is now one of my favorite intros to any record. Ever.
