an album that does nostalgia but doesn't feel tacky how wonderful... one of the best sophisti-pop listens i've had because of her beautiful voice and the no-nonsense production... fabiana release more music mama
half of this is decent and the other half is snoozefest mid pop songs, and none of the songs have lyrics that speak to the concept and themes of wuthering heights in the slightest. the lyricists, barring john cale, went for safety and simplicity, which does no justice to emily bronte. i have not seen the film yet and do not plan on it anytime soon, but i have an itch this soundtrack suits it well, and i mean that as an insult
i fuck heavy with this the punk stuff works on me, the average song ratings are pretty agreeable except meat hook is fire meathookmeathookmeahokhmehk
surprisingly nice despite the fact i just don't like 90s new order nearly as much as their 80s stuff. as with republic, this strikes me as good party music mostly, but it is definitely better than republic. run wild made me smile, and i agree crystal is the best song on the album. also, this is my 200th lp listen of the year so that's fun
will circle back on this... i have no nostalgia for this but it feels nostalgic. reminds me of lcd soundsystem sound of silver. standouts are jesus, etc., ashes of american flags, reservations
this has so many elements that i love and yet i'm let down, and that somehow makes this worse than it really is. it's hard to explain why the puzzle pieces didn't create a satisfying picture, but i'm totally unmoved by this album. "always" is good. this album isn't bad by any means but it doesn't do it for me. that's more frustrating than an album i don't like. man.
borders on corny at some points, but i still enjoyed this a lot. burnt flowers fallen and in praise of bacchus are sublime. the deep voice is a little hard to get used to but i'll definitely listen to more albums
because i’m twelve years old “my dear mr. gaye” cracked me up so badly, amazing song but woah when is that going to break into the zeitgeist. lovergirl and out on a limb are all-timers, alibi is underrated!
i think it’s a bit hard to avoid being derivative with this sound, but this provides with a good listening experience and interesting lyrics. they do guitars better than synths.
goes hard as hell, so glad that i stumbled onto it. banger album cover too. standouts: throw yourself to the sword, american porn, a strange moon/selenophilia
