Ahhhhhhhhhh
Edit: Sorry, I've been away for a bit! Started a new job, going through some shit, but that's the way life goes!
Speaking of life, I tend to associate a lot of albums/music I listen to with certain time periods or memories. Like the Sun's Tirade reminds me of a night out my Senior year of college. Or Blue Screen Life getting me through some dark moments. Or Lonerism while coming up on Shrooms. You get the idea, I'm sure a lot of you do it to!
However, there are a few albums ... read more
AOTY contender! I felt in love with an album for the first time in a while, that physical connection with a piece of art is a rarity. This will be in my rotation repeatedly. Full of tragedy, yet therapy. It flows and it shows, flowing passionately but peacefully.
What a. vibe, glad Anthony Naples is getting some good recognition! I hope he goes back to banging techno at some point, but whatever he puts out he can't miss!
First listen, was not expecting this direction...I think I love it? I need a few listens for this to sink in, but I have a feeling that this may be an AOTY contender...
Edit: I thought this would grow on me, but after 4 listens I don't know if this was as good I thought it would be. There are some undeniably good tracks, but it feels like something is missing from the overall flow of the album. I kept waiting for it to click, but each listen it never did!
I would have been in love with this 5 years ago, but this might be some of Beach Fossils best work! A harmless, bop filled vibe that reminds me summer is coming. A nice album
Does lose some steam towards the back half (Rain Garden might be the best song on the album tho), but man I still love Protomartyr. Detroit reppin, ain't no half steppin, Elimination Dancin, Protomartyr forever!
Also consistently amazing album artwork!
Edit: I lied, doesn't lose steam at all, every song is a banger. AOTY contender easily
First listening, loving it even though it was not what I expected. Gotta listen to it again now I know what's coming!
I can't put a number on this but to put it bluntly, as someone who hit rock bottom mentally a few months ago this is the most accurate feeling of depression I have heard. It's unbelievable. Probably won't be able to listen to this but what a piece of art. From start to finish, perfection.
Only one full listen, but the fusion between the middle eastern/Israeli production and the post-punk Joy Division/The Cure sound is something that touches my soul. I'm Jewish and Joy Division was a major foundation into exploring more music (hence my username hehe) so this album ties something full circle that I didn't even know was possible!
I've struggled to get into this album for a while. That is until yesterday. Roc is one of the harder rappers to get into but once it clicked, I couldn't stop listening. His voice is calming and flows over the words like butter, even if he's rapping about cocaine all the time. But what really ties this all together is the legend The Alchemist. He cooked up some stellar beats on this one. Honestly one of my favorite producers currently, I'm not sure I've ever heard him make a bad beat.
