There was a time where Meghan Trainor looked as if she had the world in her hands. She broke records with her debut single and singles after that were catchy too. Meghan has never been a real pop contender but she made music that always had you singing them out loud even just by hearing the songs on the radio for a split second. However, that was then. “Toy With Me” doesn’t seem to offer any continuation of that.
The worst album cover of 2026 so far has to be this one. ... read more
After the releases of her sisters, Absolutely and RAYE, this year, the middle child, AMMA, releases her debut album, aptly named, “Middle Child”.
For a debut album, and following the talents of her 2 sisters, AMMA creates her own space away from Absolutely and RAYE but still resembles them in her own way. I think this album is a good start on creating her own identity as an artist but I don’t think she’s pushed the boundaries all the way out just yet.
This album for ... read more
Perhaps a leading artist in Brazilian music today, Anitta has embarked on a new chapter with “EQUILIBRIVM”.
This album feels like a celebration of Brazil and latin culture as a whole. It’s fun, diverse and the diversity of collaborations keeps it alive and consistent. I very much enjoyed the immersion of this album, and the different sounds and instrumentation the project had to offer. It’s not your typical Anitta album so I was unsure on what to expect, and I think ... read more
I never wished to start my reviews like this but, did someone say MOTHER?
This album is wonderful. In all senses of the word. It is light, it is fun, it is spellbinding, and terrific. “Superbloom” is what it says on the tin. It is a super bloom of Studio 54 disco-pop heaven which radiates sunshine, blue skies, crystal waters and a rainbow of all the flowers being reborn in the spring time.
Something about Jessie Ware and disco just works. They are a match made in heaven. The ... read more
The expectation of ZAYN’s new album isn’t exactly high after his previous offerings, however this record doesn’t see ZAYN elevate his creativity, instead, it extends something we’ve seen before.
The idea I got behind “KONNAKOL” was that it was going to delve more into his heritage and tap into a more creative and experimental side of ZAYN’s artistry. Whilst this album wasn’t awful, it didn’t deliver any of that experimentation or ... read more
This double album, you could say, had a lot to live up to when it comes from the dual release of underground NY rapper MIKE and Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt, but it did not even reach expectations, let alone excel them.
This double album was a snoozefest from start to finish. Truly, the only thing it has going for it is the flow from one track to the next.
The flow is seamless and perfectly timed and executed. Other than that, production isn’t great, at all. It’s noisy, off ... read more
Perhaps it’s the expectation of Swae Lee’s, I guess you could call, solo debut album to be as masterful and fresh as his releases alongside his brother when he was releasing as Rae Sremmurd, but “SAME DIFFERENCE” does not even touch the mark.
To think over the last, somewhat, 10 years the amount of tracks that Swae Lee has offered to the world, whether it be apart of Rae Sremmurd or not, it has been proven that he is able to create hit after hit than resonates with the ... read more
“Maybe I should start and OnlyFans and show some feet” is not exactly how I envisioned of an album ending, but I understand the struggle.
I was really toyed with by this album because I really sense the greatness and the genius behind the instrumentation. Most tracks were exquisitely produced, as I guess anyone can expect from Thundercat, and I really adore the collaborations too. I feel every collaboration were suited to the artist that was featured through Thundercats bass and ... read more
Melanie Martinez’s “HADES” is a conceptual storytale delving into the critiques of societal structures and dystopian themes incorporating a distinct style that is a little misshaped.
I will admit that this is my first Melanie Martinez album that I have listened to in full, and I have listened to a few of her tracks over the years. I will start off by saying that this album has some great production points, and some very strong lyricism. I’d say the album also has some ... read more
“Whatever’s Clever” isn’t a breakthrough album in any means of the word. It’s an 80’s inspired, radio friendly record that doesn’t have much to say.
This seems to be an ongoing thing with Charlie Puth. An artist who knows so much about music, yet doesn’t know what to do with it, or how to use that knowledge to his gain. The album isn’t boring, it’s just not exciting. It’s like buying a new bed set; you put it on, you sleep in ... read more
Robyn continues to deliver synth-pop greatness with her new album “Sexistential”, but fails to leave a lasting impression.
I get it. Robyn is just one of those artists that gets it. She releases banger after banger, but this album for me, although very poignant and unique, didn’t leave me with the ‘wow’ factor that I typically would expect from her.
It’s 9 tracks long, around the 30 minute mark, and the songs, for me, don’t leave much to be desired. A ... read more
Elmiene’s “sounds for someone” is a breath of fresh air, much like the rest of his discography, but it has it’s misses.
I really, really enjoy Elmiene. His voice is one of the best out there amongst artists of today. His artistry is authentic, pure and it’s fun. He really knows his audience and he executes his musicality so well, it’s just, when Elmiene gets it right, he gets it right, and when he doesn’t, it just is a little, meh.
I really enjoyed ... read more
Brash, loud, chaotic, and fun is what I would say to describe “WORST GIRL IN AMERICA”.
Slayyyter is undeniably an artist that just gets it. She is an artist that really hones in on a sound and turns it into a project. This album is, to me, what feels like her most grounded album. There’s something so earthy and raw about this album in comparison to her others. Whilst it’s party wild child aesthetic stands forefront, there are actually some vulnerable lyrics on this ... read more
Queen Loreen has dropped her 3rd studio album “WILDFIRE” and it is the evolution that we could see coming.
Since her debut album “Heal” dropped all the way back in 2012, Loreen has made her mark in the music world known all across Europe. She caught our attention in the same year where she won the Eurovision Song Contest with the iconic “Euphoria”, changed the game for the contest, and we’ve been along for the ride ever since. Loreen has been a ... read more
Bold, courageous, beautiful, emotional, wonderful. Just 5 words that don’t even begin to describe RAYE’s 2nd studio album.
When listening to this album, there were so many thoughts around this. The artistic direction, the sound, the production, the message, the lyricism. RAYE has been through hell and back to even be able to create a first studio album, so getting a 2nd is wonderful. RAYE started out in the business as a hopeful. She had success through other people’s songs, ... read more
For an album that is named after one of the most famous and emotionally powerful symbols in South Korea, K-Pop titans, BTS’ comeback album tailors more to Western popular music rather than returning to their roots that got them worldwide popularity in the first place.
The duality of this album is confusing than it is more interesting. The album starts off very chaotic, and not even in the best way. It’s more messy than it is artistic. A lot of dance heavy beats which could be ... read more
James Blake’s “Trying Times” is a bold gloom full of different cloudy emotions with a little sunlight peering through once in a while.
I wish to state that the production on this album is the good kind of interesting. A lot of intensity, and playfulness. James, to me, has never sounded better. He has that kind of voice that has many ranges and can face well regardless of what genre bending song he has created in his craft. The only thing is for me, is I don’t understand ... read more
“Monica” serves as Jack Harlow’s fourth studio album, and his first in 3 years. After the releases and the successes of “Lovin’ On Me”, and “First Class”, anyone could have thought he was going down the radio friendly, earworm type of music. It’s something he has proven to be able to do, and quite well in fact; even if the tracks themselves aren’t exactly good.
This album is a complete 180 from that direction of music though and ... read more
Kiss All The Time, Disco Never.
What turned out to be the most excited I had been for a Harry Styles album, also turned out to be the most disappointing.
It’s been 4 years since Harry’s previous album “Harry’s House”, which absolutely dominated the year of 2022, and as I understand it, this record came from a more personal place in Harry’s life when it came to curating and writing this album. To simply put it early enough, it’s just boring. I never ... read more
Gorillaz are back with another shape-shifting album titled “The Mountain”, and sonically, it’s the bridge between Earth and that ‘next place’ you didn’t know you needed.
Already rooting themselves as the chameleons of music, Gorillaz have released their 9th studio album with productions influenced from all over the world, whilst keeping a base inspired by India. The album for me, is a healing journey. It’s enlightening, inspiring and eclectic, yet ... read more
