These guys are seriously fucking good. The one song format really expands the instrumentation in all of the best ways, and Sato's vocals are angelic. This is an album that grows on me every time I hear it. I'm on I think my third listen and its even more pretty than the first two. The water splashing sets an atmosphere that the amazing guitars and beautiful synths hold up so well its intrancing.

Idk much about electronic music production so its insane to me that he can make these sounds through a computer. How does he do it? The textures are insane. The breaking and insane beats are wild. 4, Cornish Acid, and Yellow Calx are some of the most energizing and ridiculous songs I've heard. And I've heard people complain about Good Gumpas, but I don't get the hate, I think its cute and fun and I love the songs like that that he does. Amazing album.

The chopped up acoustic guitars are a very unique and fun addition which is quite unusual, I can't think of any other music that uses that at all, but Animal Collective is iconic for their uniqueness so its expected. There aren't really any songs on here I dislike. The album could probably do without Visiting Friends, but its not a bad song, ... read more
This is an amazing song. The acoustic guitar is used so interestingly, its really abstract, as with most of Animal Collective's music. The b-side is fun too, though doesn't come close to Who Could Win A Rabbit's greatness. Overall, this is a perfect example of the band's quirkiness on display.

This album is really really damn good. I didn't know what to expect going into it, I was expecting a Fugazi-esque experience (which I was excited for, as I love Fugazi), but it surprised me. The post-hardcore sound is all there, but minus the punk, minus the distortion. The entire album is very beautiful, atmospheric, and the guitars are amazing. It has a basic and stripped back feel, but also feels complex and daunting at the same time. One of the best double albums I know of. One Lick ... read more
