It took me a long time to get myself to listen to this album. That was in relation to its predecessor, Spirit of Eden. An album that I was sure of, was my favorite at that time. I knew the existence of Laughing Stock, and I immediately went to a music store and bought the vinyl. However, with Spirit of Eden as some of the greatest music I had ever heard, I was nervous to see if Laughing Stock even could compare.

Boring Mazzy Star-esque Dean Blunt in disguise. Nothing interesting about this Garage Band ahh lounge music.
It's like outtakes from 'Modern Vampires of the City' with Hamilton Leithauser vocals. Which is not a bad starting point.
Frengers is the ultimate representation of a heart screaming sounds of impotence and powerlessness. When everything seems hopeless in dark times of life, why not turn to some sort of reflection of that? At least that's what I do. And all I could ask for to fill in the blank is the afterburner of aggressive yet peacefully balanced Mew, and especially this album.
