Full of Hell - Full of Hell / Goldust
NR

While this EP has some of the most intense, blood-pumping moments, like the ending of "Kopf Meines Vaters", it also has some of the most dull, flat, and uninteresting tracks, like "The Void Awaits". This isn't Full of Hell's most interesting body of work, but in the context of working with Goldust, I feel like they matched each other's energy well and managed to conceive a cohesive project. Goldust, on the other hand, I feel put on a pretty entertaining ... read more

Acidgvrl - OMG HONEY IM COMBING !!

Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

Huntsmen - The Dry Land
94

This needs more attention! This album is phenomenal and holds my attention close for the entire duration. Its an extremely interesting and compelling listen paired with some of the best production choices I've heard all year. One of the best Post-Metal releases of recent memory. Seriously, go listen to this ASAP!

Agriculture - Living Is Easy
92

From beginning to end, this album is wildly complex, well-produced, and extremely interesting to listen to. I've been a really big fan of everything Agriculture has done since their debut LP last year, and this just solidifies it for me.

Living Is Easy is an incredible album that we have been blessed with, and I'm very fortunate that I've had time to sit with this album, and have been listening all month. There's never a dull moment.

If you were a fan of their last album, you will not be ... read more

St. Vincent - All Born Screaming
59

While moments of this are great, I feel as though I'm slogging through most of the album just to get to the good parts. It does not hold my attention or keep me engaged, just fairly boring to me.

Big Baller B - genre : bradboy

Makes me laugh every time, I love it. Does not sound good. Thank God it's finally on streaming services

Honey Revenge - Retrovision
67

While this isn't the most creatively written or sounding project in the world, it's still something I got a good bit of enjoyment out of. This album is worth picking through for the songs that are genuinely good, though it's unlikely I will return for another top-down listen. Honey Revenge has a lot of potential from what I can tell from this, and I look forward to the next album they put out.

Favorite Track - Airhead
Least Favorite Track - Sensitive

21 Savage - american dream
72

This is exactly what I expected from 21 - a solid product with great producers behind it and a classic 21 performance. While I did have a good time listening to this record, I just wish 21 would come out of his box a little bit, maybe try some different styles or try his hand working with more people that excel in different genres, because, as it stands, this kind of just sounds like every other 21 Savage solo project. This album was a fun listen with just a few road bumps along the way.

yungatita - Shoelace & a Knot
70

"Shoelace & a Knot" is some classic hit-or-miss Pop Rock. I'm going to echo the sentiments of others here, and reiterate that the first 3 tracks feel very generic and bland, but this album picks it up with some really fun and energetic tracks that completely save this project from the depths of "mid" that have plagued every other album that I've heard this year.
Tracks like "Armchair" and "Descenda" are what raise this album to a point of enjoyment ... read more

doefriends - I WANT TO LOVE AGAIN
56

I totally see the appeal of this sound and why people like it, but this really isn't for me. There isn't a lot on this project that sounds cohesive or holds my attention for any meaningful length of time. The constant droning of a synth that sounds like it was made on another planet is something that really piqued my interest, yet, the longer the album went on, the more the sound was driving me mad and I was just hoping to move on.

That all being said, in a vacuum, most of these songs and the ... read more

SPRINTS - Letter To Self
63

"Letter To Self" lands itself in a weird place in my mind, where I'm impressed with how good this sounds for a debut LP, while simultaneously being so disappointed with how boring, cheesy and repetitive the songwriting ends up being. The worst examples of this appear on the tracks "Adore Adore Adore" and "Up and Comer" where it feels like these songs are an exhausting marathon and 10 minutes long, when in reality it's only been 2 minutes and I'm just ready to do ... read more

Disclosure - Alchemy
61

"Alchemy" is just okay. It's not doing anything out of the box or changing the game, but it's doing its style fairly well. There are some interesting ingredients here, yet the charm seems to wear off faster than expected. Certain tracks manage to catch a stride, no doubt, but there are instances where the sound dissipates into thin air and fails to keep my attention.

If you're in the mood for a modest house experience, then this album might do just that. Just don't expect it to blow ... read more

bl4ck m4rket c4rt - Today I Laid Down
96

In the haunting melodies of "Today I Laid Down," you are taken on a musical journey that's painfully heartbreaking and somber. I didn't know Kai personally, but I can relate very closely to the feelings that they were able to portray in the time that they had with us, and i wish nothing but the best for his friends and family. Before I continue to talk about Kai and their music, I would just like to say a very heartfelt rest in peace. You will be dearly missed, and you will live on ... read more

Kristin Hayter - SAVED!
95

[Original Rating: 90]

SAVED! is an absolutely stunning album. This is going to be a long review, so my apologies ahead of time, but buckle up if you're still here. Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter, formerly known as Lingua Ignota, is one of the most impactful artists that I have ever heard; and this album is no exception. Her unbelievable ability to immerse you into the depths of her mind and drown you in the darkness before picking you up for air just before you start to break is an experience ... read more

SALT - For Your Wounds
90

For Your Wounds is an absolutely incredible EP. Columbus hardcore band, Salt, cemented themselves in the scene with one of the most heavy and raw projects I've heard this year. There's so much power and anger on every track, and everything comes together so cohesively. I have a few minor issues with this record, but the main one is how fast it's over. 5 minutes of pure adrenaline and aggression, just starting to scratch my itch and... It's just over in the same heartbeat we started on.

Teezo Touchdown - How Do You Sleep At Night?
73

How Do You Sleep At Night? is an album that showcases uniqueness and creative ideas in the forefront. Teezo Touchdown is an artist that I've been following relatively closely since his wave of single releases in 2020-2021, and I've been impressed with his work for a long time. I was excited for this release, and I'm happy to see that, for the most part, this is a very enjoyable album and what made Teezo special when I first started listening is still on display.

This project is far from ... read more

Welcome To Berlin - ...And It's Blinding
76

...And It's Blinding is a well-made modern emo record with a lot of authentic charm. It's very clear that there is a lot of passion behind the writing and production which can be heard on most of the tracks, but specifically on the track that I feel has the most emotion and impact - 'Shell'

It's all very well done, and while some of the songs are a bit of a slow ride, the payoff is worth it. Welcome To Berlin show a clear unwavering love for music, and while unique, wears some influence on ... read more

The Microphones - Tests
63

Tests is a compilation of interesting lo-fi experimentation by the absolutely wonderful Phil Elverum. By no means is this a desirable top-down listen, but it was never meant to be that. What we have here is some scrapped ideas that never got developed into a fleshed out piece of work, and with that, this kind of peels back some layers of The Microphones' usual heavily layered and complex sonic landscape that we don't normally see.

There is some genuinely really cool ideas hidden in the folds ... read more

Smiley - I Did What I Did
22

I Did What I Did is a catastrophe. Smiley somehow manages to consistently have bad beats, bad flows, and bad lyrics as he lazily mumbles his way through each track. 'Moderation' and 'You Went Ghost' are completely unlistenable songs. OVO completely dropped the ball with this one, as I can't ignore or accept the lackluster production or writing. I'm not sugarcoating it – this is the bottom of the barrel of musical disappointment.

This is a project that could have had potential if they ... read more

Korn - The Path of Totality
43

Path of Totality is an example of Korn trying to innovate and be ahead of the times but subsequently created their most aged project. While there are actually some interesting moments on here, Korn largely falls flat in the execution.

When this album dropped, I was in the studio with my band, and we were all huge Korn fans at the time. Some of my fondest memories of this time have this album in the background. We listened to songs off of this record nearly every day together. Sure, we were ... read more
