Aesop Rock & Homeboy Sandman "Lice" EP 2015:
A quick little EP with a runtime of 17 minutes with only 5 tracks. The production is not bad at all with track 4 "So Strange Here" being my favorite of the bunch. The sample used for the hook on this track sounds like something you would hear off of the Little Big Planet games. The only skip for me is track 1 "Vertigo," this was the only track where I didn't like the production as it felt weak with what sounds ... read more
Armand Hammer "Haram" 2021"
Armand Hammer teams up with The Alchemist to produce this album entirely, in which he delivers some drum less beats and dark gritty type of production. The first track "Sir Benni Miles" sets the tone for the rest of the album quite nicely with its slow methodical dark production & both Billy Woods & Elucid delivering dark lyrics over top. On the track "Indian Summer" Alchemist delivers drumless production with an eerie gong ... read more
Glare "Into You / Void in Blue" EP 2023:
This is a four song collection of their singles put together to make an EP. All four songs are very ethereal sounding, the instrumentals are fantastic as they allow the guitar riffs and instrumentation on each track to breathe and become a main focus until the vocals come in. Each tracks guitar riffs sound as if you are forced to look deeply into your soul with a sort of haunting feel. The first part to "Do Not Enter" is a great ... read more
A-F-R-O "A-F-R-O Polo" EP 2016:
A-F-R-O teams up with producer Marco Polo in which Marco delivers smooth boom baps beats for A-F-R-O to spit on in which he delivers some sci-fi, misogynistic, movie themed, west coast lyricism as showed on the track "Nightmare on Fro St." A-F-R-O has a great feature from Pharaohe Monch on "Swarm" over a slowed chill beat which sounds like it could have been on "Infernal Affairs." On the track "Sunshine & ... read more
DMX's "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood" 1998:
DMX himself stated these songs were excess recordings from his debut album session "It's Dark & Hell is Hot." Gladly he chose the correct songs for his debut project, as this album here was sort of a let down for me. The production on here is nothing crazy and at times just sound straight flat/bland/boring. There aren't many standouts on here besides the two hits: "Slippin" & "The ... read more
